Those who pay gas.

less_than_zero [Edit] [Delete] 14 replies 16:31, 16 October '07

I've just moved back into my old place with friends who have been living here since June 2006. We've been paying gas bill whenever it comes in on time and in full. This has always been a estimated bill. The other week we got a bill for over £1000 after the meter was read.

Excessive no? We don't even have the radiators on really because the boiler is so loud. We had a gas leak as well...could that have effected it? is there any way of telling if the leak occured in a place before or after the gas is read in the meter? I took the day off work to wait for the gas man to come but of course he'll come later in the 8 hour slot which he gave us. Basically...are we fucked.

  • That seems reasonable to me.

    • Really?

      • Yeah.

You do live in a Castle?

        fullerov @less_than_zero | 16 Oct '07, 16:34 | X
        • We have a moat but i wouldn't call it a castle as such...

  • £1000?!

I pay £70/month for either gas or electricity and £30 for the other one. That doesn't help much does it?

    Sorry.

Actually though, they're overcharging me and I'm in credit, so really it should be about £45/month and £30/month.

    • Exactly...

They cant have under charged us £60 or so a month, surely.

  • this is probably a bill since the last time the meter was read

phone them up and tell them you've been paying an estimated one. it sounds like a fuck up

    • We have phoned up...

several times. They weren't very helpful.

      less_than_zero @meths | 16 Oct '07, 16:35 | X
      • they never are.

just say its not right, it must be wrong, "can i speak to a mamnager otherwise i'm closing account"

        meths @less_than_zero | 16 Oct '07, 17:02 | X
  • That sounds high for 15 months to me

We are paying about £24 a month on DD for our flat.

  • i got a bill for about this once

the meter reading had got put in as two of the numbers the wrong way round.

I had to phone scottish/british gas 4 times before it got sorted. People kept saying they werent allowed to change the reading to a lower value, and the account would have to be rebuilt, which would take 5 days. It was about 6 weeks, and I kept getting more and more threatening letters each week. RUBBISH.

    • I called them and the meter reading's were in line with the bill.

Fuck them. And i still have to wait here for that cunting engineer knob. Argh.

      less_than_zero @ImageChange | 16 Oct '07, 17:01 | X
  • Did you

give them a meter reading when you moved in? If not you could be paying for the previous tenants gas use.
