prostitution (really old news centric)

In a nutshell: Protitution is legal in Germany. If you're on benefits you have to take any job that's offered you. Woman is offered job as prostitute...

Does anyone know if anything has happened regarding this in the last 3 years or not?

  • OUCH

They took the wrong decision there. If a woman wants to work in the sex industry it should be her choice and her choice alone.

    Oh goodness.

    • That's ridiculous.

      • I'm ridiculous or the news story is?

        • The story.

          I'm reserving judgment on you.

And, according to wikipedia, no new laws have been implemented since 2002 regarding prostitution in Germany.

    • more seriously

there should be a diffence between not making prostitution illegal and making it a job like any other one...

          • No idea as to the validity (or not) of the original story or the dissection on the link below but...

            http://www.snopes.com/media/notnews/brothel.asp

            might make more sense.

          • it's a lie

but it is an interesting point. Having legalised something you have declared it morally acceptable. Therefore if someone is refusing to do it they are against the official morality of the country and have to suffer for their moral choice. What if a vegan got offered a job in an abotoir?

Anyway, I guess my point is two-fold.
            1. Prostitution should not be legal, it should be tolerated and protection offered to prostitutes, but the day you open it up to big business is the day your country dies.

            2. Forcing people to take any job that is offered to them is bad, but attractive. Someone who is determined to be unemployed is a parasite who is harming everyone else and it would be nicer to have a way to deal with them. Sadly, I think the best thing to do is just to carry the dead weight and do your best to encourage them to sort their lives out.
