Anyone see this yet?
I though it was great. It looks beautiful and Sam Riley puts in a great performance as Curtis.
Had mixed reports about it, but its still a must-see.
as I'm a big fan of Joy Division but the 4 people I dragged with me were only vaugely aware of who Curtis was and thought it was good. It's funny in parts too (watch out for the 24 hours party people/The Fall in-joke)
and i was funnier.
I felt quite dark, a grey kinda dark, after watching it and sorta hollow. Basically, don't go see it if you're already in a dark mood.
It's amazing how well they humanize Curtis who feels kind of mythical and above mere human. I have a feeling he was probably a little less 'cool' than they make out. Seemed a bit weird how they skimmed over the band forming and their manifesto, woulda been nice for people who don't quite 'get' the band to have had it drilled in.
I wanna listen to them all day now but that'd be kinda dark.
and does it skirt over his racist antics or what?
I read the Guardian review on Friday and found myself back as an intense teenager in the 90s being obsessed with JD/Ian Curtis - can't wait to watch it BUT I NEED A BABY SITTER.
DOes Simon Pegg play Ian curtis?
Nick Frost IS Peter Hook
As long as you provide biscuits.
it made the rest of the band out to be brain dead morons. i'm pretty sure they're not really.
and john cooper clarke - woo!
and a '24 hour party people' in-joke - double woo!
and 'rob gretton' - some much-needed light relief.
a great movie in any case.
"heyyyyyy... a dog!"
but he makes a great noise
On a date. I'm sure it will be a romantic experience.
