Anyone ever had to get one?
If so, when did you pay it back etc...?
I hate Student Finance Direct sometimes.
I almost got one. But then I just decided to be more responsible. Oh, and to win money on a quiz show.
But there's only so far a part-time £90pw job can take you before you need to dip into money you have aside.
My entire arse. 90 quid a week would have paid for my rent AND my food leaving whatever was 'set aside' purely for the purposes of cheap women and expensive drugs. And I didn't even live up north!
You sir, are not being financially prudent.
I have £25 left and I got my wages an hour and a half ago and I havn't even bought food yet.
If I didn't have a car to run, yeah I might be okay, but I do, so I'm not.
where heart should be....
I havn't asked my parents for money since I was 15.
helps though, doesn't it?
a combined wage of under £17K.
£50 doesn't sound like much, but it still is to them.
maybe they work part time, or have a low paid job.
my mother is a single mum who has to work part time because of illness and earns approximately 10k. i can't just get 50 quid off her whenever i want.
i fucking hate people who complain about being broke when their parents pay their rent and stuff. sigh.
but it doesn't always work out that way.
One works in a supermarket and the other is a bus driver for a special school who gets reduced wages in the holidays.
for money he said I couldn't have any because he was too busy paying off his child support debts that he never paid when he was supposed to.
I probably won't actually get in.
i'll probably be there.
Yummy yummy 8p noodles
I'll text you later.
i said the last post in my head with far more passion that i have typed it out to look.
i'm pretty rubbish
I'm thinking about going to sumo tonight!!
You still have the same mobile number Dalkin?
She had to pay it back when she got her loan.
That was it.
Do you work saturdays?
I'm working 1-5 then 7:30-12.
if they think I'm working it permanently.
I'm having to do Monday's essay now.
but my course is based at Middlesbrough College, Marton site.
i'm going to avoid teesside if i can.
i've heard good things.
either that or leeds. not sure!
also bloody hell the amount of people from boro and around on DiS is really suprising!
We almost took over once.
we could go drinking sometime...
WHEN I HAVE MONEY.
also i'm 17 until january.
such a bitch I'M SO CLOSE TO LEGALITY.
in Guisborough one time, they'll serve you there.
never been out in guisborough before.
you'll have to let us know then.
when you leave stockton so I've stopped asking you.
It's all that fucking smog in Middlesbrough.
you can't stand being away from the biddies.
there's a lot of biddies in stockton. i was there last saturday and it was packed.
Biddies, Smackheads, Charity and Pound Shops.
There's Stockton right there!
we do have our share of charity and pound shops.
has Ice-Cream places and Arcades...
and (somewhat) of a beach.
And the insane amount of absolutely insane people!
Too many insanes?
I meant to say something else but i got caught up in the excitement.
Eston must be awfully dull.
i think they might have a tree for excitement.
Nah instead of a tree we have 7 pubs 6 takeaways and several hundred chavs.
Its a good night out.
and a swimming pool.
i remember going there in primary school.
Do you not REMEMBER the anchor visit?
All the pubs luuuurve me now. Especially one land lord in particular, apparently.
in redcar, pretty easy to get into almost anywhere.
is guissy the same?
I'll serve you!
i've been invited out to stockton a few times, so maybe...
Don't go out in Stockton. It's awful.
Middlesbrough is tonnes better.
He'll spill it all over you.
You sound like Budd.
for saying that.
You know my mother, and have indeed spoken to her a few times. She could ruin you any day of the week.
or different pubs?
I've worked there since I was 16.
He started a few months ago.
Dalkin copied me. Just earlier.
also best thread ever...
huge, selfish thread when it's not about a night out in london.
No one else is reading.
then again the concept of drinking always gets me excited.
I can't even afford to go out tonight. Or for the next few weeks.
and i'm due to go to newcastle tomorrow too.
that's like a tenner each way :(
A week on monday. Saving up some money for then like.
i was in london not too long ago.
i went paintballing though.
No idea what we're actually going to do when we get there...
I went to the Sumo in Durham the other week and their version of the empire's Play on saturday.
Boro's is better
Saying that, the last time I went to Sumo I think it was all still in the one room...
it was to see enter shikari.
i dunno, it depends. I remember getting served when i was about 14, but when i met up with dalkin in a different (nicer) pub they wouldn't serve me, and i was 16/17 then. I think they serve me now because i go to the pubs quite alot, and recognise me.
I think it comes down to whether you look young or not, ha.
What a useless reply
so i always worry if i'll get served or not.
it depends who you're with i suppose, too.
OR, you get people to buy drinks for you!
if i go out with you lot :)
You got served in The Tap.
They serve me in the anchor now, though. Yummy £1.53 pints galore!
in the final week of my final year at uni i got a hardship grant of £900, just for filling out quite a lengthy form. to be honest, i could have lived off what i had, but HAH! it was weird also because i had literally finished uni. i had definitely done my finals!
parents income etc.?
Just got my loan!
But £368 has to pay my rent, I hate being an adult/2nd year.
All the freshers are stupid, with their stupid free internet.
I'm living with three other people just outside the uni, in total we're paying something like £1472 for a total of 11 months. £368 a month, works out to about £85 a week.
im living in halls and it costs over £2000 i think
that's harsh. When I was first year, I was living in halls and was paying about £77 a week. Now I've left and it's only NOW they've decided to put wireless in our bulidings!
but its quite a lot. and they made me pay for a cable that i could have got for free.
