especially rich ones in a busy Notting Hill Subway shop
they can just go fuck themselves and die.
i am always perfectly nice to bar/shop/etc staff.
Which is why it's fun to shout NO PROBLEM at them as they leave.
are some of the worst offenders for this. really fucks me off when they dont say thank you for holding a door or letting them pass before you or whatever. just plain rude
people with no manners are all despicable twats. say thank you you massive twunty cunty twats!
...ALWAYS SAY PLEASE!
saying 'thank you' is good.
the concept of 'please' is inherently retarded.
what's the difference between 'can I have a coffee?' and 'can I have a coffee please?'.
It's just verbosity. You're tacking on a layer of unneccessary humility. You're still asking the person to do the same thing for you. It's only because the notion of 'please' was invented that people would be offended. There's some country I read about (it might've been iceland but I could be wrong) where no one ever uses 'please' OR 'thank you' and no one considers it rude at all. It's just how it is.
I think 'please' is a typically british self-castrating mechanism.
saying 'thank you' is fine. Someone has done something for you and thanking them acknowledges this. Ending a request with 'please' doesn't make it more polite.
'Give me a fucking coffe you cunt, please' is still rude.
'Can you get me a coffee?' is not inherently rude unless you're indoctrinated by the tyranny of 'please'.
Rise up! Throw off the shackles of oppression!
I'm glad someone said that. I'd have lost my faith in the predictability of DiS humour if not.
its just showing that you are going to the effort of acknowledging that they are doing something for you. i like manners lots. but in a scandinavian country yes they never say it, we had some stay at our hotel and they made the effort to do so but we talked to them and they said that, they also say they tip people for doing little things, such as getting ice for them. they tried to pay be a pound for it.
