3-1 down at home to Villa before half time!
bought adebayor instead. so he wont score again
It's been shocking so far, and after a really good start, too.
To be honest, there's something seriously wrong if you can't organise a defence with as much talent as ours.
Why the hell is he playing Tainio on the left too? The man can barely cut it as a holding player, let alone a wide player.
We're so going to have Chris Hughton as manager until the end of the season when we get an average long term replacement :'(
and put Bale in.
Score a freekick you emo cunt.
This is very upsetting. Came very close to tears after Villa's third. WWHHHYYY do we not have a left winger when we have a Darren Bent??! Why is our defence not working?! Why was Paul Robinson born??!!
show your best manager for 15 years some respect.
It's a stupid decision, it shows no regard for what he's achieved in the last 2 years but I'd be stunned if he was still there by the weekend.
i really, really hope he leaves, goes to real madrid, does the triple, and tottenham get relegated
with fabregas getting the golden boot
Arguably they are doing a lot worse right now.
That said I'm not sure Jol will ever be a top, top manager as he makes too many bizarre tactical decisions. But at the same time I think he genuinely is the best Tottenham could possibly get and that it's high unlikely they'll get a replacement who does as well or better than he's done.
Keane/Defoe partnership but had to justify the expense spent on Bent and Berbatov who haven't exactly set the world alight this season.
and definitely not one that was effective.
Before Bent/Berbatov there was Mido. Before that Kanoute.
Up front is the least of our worries.
but when they have played together they seem to have clicked.
I like Jol as he seems to want his teams to play attacking football, and when he first took over he bought quality homegrown talent from the lower divisions (Dawson, Reid, Huddlestone and Lennon to name 4). Sadly, he got suckered into the same trap as many other managers soon after and went for second rate foreigners instead (Rocha, Tainio, Zokora, the Chinese bloke at left back whose name I can't even remember) and it looks like it has cost him his job.
but it's much more the organisation and general tactics of the team rather than the talent of the personnel.
There's a hell of a lot of White Hart Lane alumni on the coaching staff and it seems to me that there should be a total overhaul. Including getting rid of a director of football, whatever that means.
A certain Mr Pleat...
zakora, kaboul, athobee, lee, stanieri etc hardly setting the world on fire
that's his name!
1. Paul Robinson
2. Paul Robinson
3. Paul Robinson.
Cmon Defoe. I would fucking love it.
One of my favourite ever football moments!
and Jenas against Arsenal.
I love Spurs!
Although, it's only a point, in the end...
I'm still coming down from the excitement of it all.
fuck me this is awesome. I'm shaking and crying :S
i still hate you
I got bored of Stan Collymore's voice on the radio.
If they sack Jol they deserve to 'do a Leeds'
The result, also how Tom Huddlestone managed to stay on for the entire 90 minutes. I'm probably better than him.
now that was a good game even the bits I missed. Robinson is gash though.
are why Martin Jol is good for English football.
robinson, carson, james and hahnemann have let in NINETEEN goals between them this weekend.
not that incredible
carson's always been lumped with sub-standard sides who have loaned him for cover, robinson has had patches of brilliance in his career, ditto james and i'm pretty sure hahnemann kept reading in such a high position last year.
after his clean sheet and assist last week. Why do you forsake me lord?
best I've seen all season, regardless of my Spurs allegiances.
I DEMAND AN EMERGENCY MOTD
diana got about 3 days of "BREAKING NEWS": We deserve at least an hour.
Fact of the matter is that Spurs can't beat Villa at home and are only one point above Derby after almost a quarter of the season
It's starting to look like Jol getting the sack isn't exactly the worst idea ever
I love Spurs. They're great for neutrals. Score loads, concede loads. If Robinson starts for England though I'm going to renounce my citizenship.
I'm thinking one of Robinson's problems is that he`s had literally (LITERALLY) no competition for his place in the 4 years or so he's been with us.
is that he's not very good.
deep down you KNOW it's more exciting watching spurs than arsenal.
has been pretty much absurd. But I personally think that a chairman of a club who has invested ridiculous amounts of money like Spurs have is well within his rights to start questioning things at this stage
I'd give him another month or so, tops, and if Spurs are still in the shitter then I think it's completely right that he should get the sack
you can't argue with his efforts in the last 2 years, and breaking into the top 4 was always going to be harder than it sounds. Let's face it though, Jol's been a dead man walking for weeks, it's only because Spurs' targets have been unavailable that he's still in the job. And there's a question mark as to whether he had much input into the signings of many players. A bit of a lame duck imho.
By all accounts he didn't even want Bent. But saying that, the rumour mill goes into hyperdrive during spells like this so I guess it's best to take most things with a pinch of salt
Probably the only thing about Jol that I actually really, really dislike is his man management. He's made quite a habit of falling out with people there, with Robinson being the only 'big' name to come out and be vocally supportive
And that's just cos he knows he'd be the first one being seriously looked at if a new manager came in. That seven year deal (or whatever it was) that he pushed for is starting to look pretty sweet right about now
one look at the pictures from the 93rd minute at white hart lane will show you that the players* love him.
*most of them.
But I'd be surprised to see any players not embracing each other/the manager after just coming back from three goals down in the dying seconds
But yeah, the simple fact that he's given many (if not the vast, vast majority) of that squad their first big chance of Premiership football would probably gain you some sort of loyalty
to celebrate with him.
unless you're sure that you can get someone who will do a better job. I'm not sure they can.
I keep saying this, but I wish I knew how much Damien Comolli is involved and how culpable he is.
is quite culpable. Director of Football is the best job in football. The chairman's lacky, have no-one to answer to...
You get to make shit loads of decisions and then let somebody else take the fall when it goes tits up
I might see if Office Angels have any positions they could offer me...
