'cept i kept deleting stuff and fucking it up cos my minidisc player was a piece of SHIT.
well, somebody has to, dont they?
and one in my stereo.
until the fucking player broke.
i love minidisks. so much better than a fucking ipod
fucking spinny wheel
this is another "i love videotapes" thread, right?
ipods are ok. i just liked minidiscs. did most of my degree on it
anything these days..
and one of my course was steel band. my course ruled
that is the single most annoying thing that ipods dont do
Hold down rewind and it goes back and then into the MP3 before and so on.
I've still got one in my separates system, but I haven't used it for a while. Used to mix stuff off 4 track cassette onto it
does that count?
do you still play with it?
i didn't realise it was out dated though, i might have to think again
when ive finished using it *
*used it once*
*work out how to use it
working out how to piss out of the nextmanswilly might be though. perhaps i could pee in a cup, gamecat could drink it and then he coul pee it out while i hold and then appropriate some shakage?
but then when I worked at Sainsburys someone cracked open my locker and stole it. The management told me it was my own fault!
From that day on I never bothered working properly
i use it instead of a dictaphone
I love the 'Minidiscs are the future!' conversation about eight years ago by What Hi-Fi snobs.
It's mostly Sony's fault I think - more recent example being the UMD format ('You want me to buy Hitch again for PSP?! Sign me up!').
Mini-Discs were and are a great idea and if CDRs hadn't become so cheap and easy to make, and if broadband hadn't made MP3s such a reasonable format I'm sure they'd have done well.
They were far better than tapes.
I don't record on them anymore because I use MP3s, but they're nice to have around.
The other day I found one without a label, so I put it on and found it was a Pennywise compilation I'd made 8 years ago. Good stuff.
portable player/recorder. Has worked fine for years and I started using it again because it sounds better than my i-Pod
it was the nuts at the time, but the battery life just got more and more ridiculous. Not that many people had minidiscs though, so you couldn't swap em like tapes. (did lend a grrl McLusky's mypainandsadness on md though, she said it sounded exactly like what she'd imagined me to listen to.. :P)
More recently I've just used it for recording a 4 track onto, which it's perfect for.
I think any Sony based format is doomed to failure.
I do on my stereo at home and when I bring it up here I will relive the glory of my Sum41, Reel Big Fish, Linkin Park disc.
This is one of those rare times.
I'm not living with her any more (well technically anyway) so in your eyes she'll be fine.
although she blates would've loved the disc anyway.
my formative music appreciation years were spent in the company of the minidisc (and just look at how good i turned out!).
the biggest problem with them was the tendency of the equipment to break, as well as the difficulty of trying to clean the discs.
i used to trade minidiscs! i had a website and everything. i think i had around 300 at one point. it was because of minidiscs that i got into music properly. yay
I have a draw full of them because I can't bear to throw them away.
I'm glad I bought a load of MD Data discs years back, can't find them anywhere now.
