I applied for a job at Tesco
a few months ago, working on the tills.
I was denied it.
My friend works there though, and he told me who got the job in my place: a lad who can't speak a word of English.
I don't understand this. As someone who can communicate with customers, surely you pick me over someone who can't communicate with a three-year-old?
He's working the hours I could've done, in the evenings. And don't get me wrong, I'm over the moon to see Tesco embracing diversity in their employees, but I think there comes a time when you've got to also embrace practicality and fairness - the guy clearly wasn't chosen on the basis of his customer skills.
