It'll be ace.
The flyer looks like this:
Umm... I might come to this. I'm in west London that night but may come along after a meeting..
I'm pretending to be a gay man tying another gay man to a bed on saturday for some Jilly Cooper programme.
£110 for a couple of hours work, in my pants. Sounds pretty similar to being pimped to me ;)
I tend to spend a couple of hours sat around in my pants every weekend. Why can't they pay me?
I haven't even made it INTO my pants yet today...still in towel-land, pop: me
of course I mean 'thanks'
it's funny, when I did the most pimping of a night I'd ever done, ONE person turned up, and that was guywithnousername
Yet I STILL like this threads
this type of self promoting thread, I mean
it's all about the brand awareness. Some people will see this thread and won't come but hopefully next time they hear I'm doing a night they'll think "hey, I've heard about that night. Maybe I'll check it out".
aha! I knew there was a reason to do it! Yes, building the brand. That's what we're doing with HOG, I feel. records/nights/nights/records
i was totally going to come, but there's already 2 gigs im torn between that night
I think Paul and myself should get a leg at least
It doesn't have as much grockle but it does have restlessboy instead.
Tuesday 25 September 7:30 - 2am
10:20 - 10:50 - Paul Hawkins & Thee Awkward Silences
“A genuinely dirty raw, rock energy I’ve been missing for a good few years. I mean can you name a new band that's made the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end and make you believe that twenty five thousand ants are crawling all over your skin? ” – Room 13 Magazine
"Wayward fuck off and leave alone buckled pop. Like Daniel Johnston but with better tunes" - Losing Today Magazine
“The best band in the world” – Tim Ten Yen
9.40 - 10:10 - The Outdoor Types
Boisterous, joyous and dark pop somewhere between Scott Walker and Nick Cave. First single Jangler Swifteye has just been released on Hand of Glory records.
9 - 9:30 - Filthy Pedro & The Carthaginians
The ancient history and kinky sex obsessed founder of the UK antifolk scene brings his gang of misfits to Silent Night for the first time. Expect humorous lo-fi songwriting, shambolic charm and dubious attempts at rapping...
8:20 - 8:50 - Adapter Adapter
"Clustered around the eccentric multi-insturmentalist Will Twynam (the 5th) (aka Grockle incidentally) adapter adapter is a many limbed octopus of sound. You will dance! You will cry! You will wonder what on earth those lyrics can possibly mean, but most of all you will come back for another helping of spicy goodness."
8: - 8:15 - Richard Tyrone Jones
Possibly the finest teller of bad jokes on the planet, Richard will be doing a 15-minute set of comic poetry plus compering the rest of the evening.
Hawk & The Awks:
it's great having one of those. I'm glad I brigtened up my previously slightly gloomy photo...
you look like a pedro.
doesn't actually look like a paedophile or sex offender at all.
I expected him to before I met him but he really doesn't.
thought she said "you like a paedo".
My only sexual offence is being sexy...very very sexy.
I might wear my bulgy trousers on tuesday
changed my mind about the bulgy trousers. They smell a bit like cheese
only because it sounds uttery ridiculous.
I'm a blinding dj, and I'll be there, but I'll be playing guitar, not dj-ing
Forgotten which one.
Any ideas ehwhat?
It's gonna be ace!
It be here:
when you sent that to me, all I saw was tuesday. It was tuesday, so I started mentally preparing myself for a gig that night...fairly pleased that I was wrong. Gives me a chance to tattoo some lyrics on my arm
It'd look cool. Probably.
basically at the end of my road, and free, I might pop down.
im well overdue with my grockle meat and it's always a pleasure seeing you play, paul :)
it'd be lovely to see you again too :)
If you can find a free gig on Tuesday that costs less to get into than our free gig on Tuesday we'll refund you double the entrance fee!
Should be doing some gigs round the UK early next year - will try and make sure we do one in Birmingham.
and I promise it will be fantastic.
I'm plucking all my body hair out and polishing my living flesh as we speak, ready for my performance tonight.
Gonna be very greasy!
*I mean sexy
I wouldn't come as the Sleeping Years is playing tonight at the 12 bar club...
aah, sadly their tourbus fell into a ravine.
Tonights show at the George Tavern is going ahead as a mark of respect to them, however
I'll kill you !
"we're baffled why they were in a tourbus in the first place as they're from London. And as for how they got to be by a ravine, it's just insanity"
The spokesman went on:
"we urge any fans of The Sleeping Years to attend the tribute concert at The George Tavern tonight as a mark of respect, EVEN if said fans are from Paris, for example"
I have to search for my daughter at school.
I won't be able to make it !
That tribute concert better has to be good.
I want Paul Hawkins to play 'song for autumn' as a special mark of respect !
Maybe I'll cover it when I play Paris next year. Assuming I play Paris next year.
a gig in Paris so you're forced to cover it...
is the outdoor types named after the evan dando/smudge song?
I'll leave grockle to answer the Outdoor Types question 'cos he probably knows the answer whereas I'd just be guessing.
actually I have no idea what the answer is...
I'd say 'probably', but if you turned up tonight, you could ask them yourself, and possibly even be tempted into purchasing a copy of their delightfully garish limited seven inch debut, jangler swifteye
i'll try to! although have no idea how to get there
it's on commercial road. i can't recall exactly which one that is, but its one of the huge ones around liverpool street/old street
Best to either go to Liverpool St and catch a bus, go to Whitechapel and walk a bit south or go to Shadwell and walk a bit North. It's not that hard to get to once you know where it is.
that's miles away from me but if i do i'll be the one skulking in the corner, or leaning against a wall.
I always hope to have at least 3 skulkers per gig. It adds to the atmosphere.
Hey dude- have you heard from the outdoor types about the bass amp yet?
They're bringing one. Yay!
fantastic. I love seeing them pulling up in their low-riding red estate, with lots of gear around their smiling little faces
i'm pretty excited. I love train journeys
& I'll go and see you.
I'll try and do this when we start playing around the UK more early next year.
