field recording equipment
ok I'm going to Assam in December and will make my way through Bangladesh and then pop out the other end into West Bengal.
I want to turn what was originally a mission to tend to a family emergency and a creation of a college library to a sonic adventure.
I have an idea for a new project which will make heavy use of field recordings of bengali folk musicans along with synthesised noise.
It looks like after packing presents for relatives I have never met and 4 massive volumes of the dewey decimal system I won't have much room for equipment.
And I also don't want to lugg my expensive studio to bangladesh even if it is pretty portable.
So I have decided I have room for my old backup sony vaio, my novation x-station 25 (a tiny synth with a 2 input soundcard) and a microphone. If i need anything like an electric guitar i guess i can buy a cheapo one in bangladesh.
But I don't think it would be a good idea to take the laptop out of air conditioned places so i will need something small and portable in the field.
What would anyone here suggest?
Digital recorder? small tape voice recorder.?
or one of those sd disk multitracks with microphones?
