and she turns out to be quite the racist.
stabby, how was she racist?
and she piped up with a very offensive black joke and followed it up with another.
i hate nervous laughter.
girl- are you racist?
me- uhh, not really.
girl- oh, i am. my friend went out with this black guy and we all called him "n*****r" behind his back.
actual quotes. i went out with this girl for a while.
that people genuinely say these things out loud and consider it acceptable!?
i was so shocked. i think i just immediately said to myself "she's just being post-modern, or shocking, or something"
at least in the olden days there was a degree of social stigma about admitting to racism ("i'm not racist but...)
i suppose that as with most things, it's better out than in and it's as much a matter for 'us' to deal with as 'them'. if we want racism to not be an issue we can either ignore it or oppose it. i think there's a tendency to think "i don't like racism but xyz is a good mate otherwise".
it has widely lost its stigma. it is no longer immune to post-modernism or irony, so we can't tell who is joking and who is not.
you can't even hold a deeply entrenched ideological belief that the white race is superior to all others, the jews should be wiped from the earth, all asians are terrorists and black people should be locked up in order to stop crime anymore without some lefty accusing you of being a racist.
I tell you, it's political correctness GONE MAD!
Disgusted of Bournemouth
I hung around with a guy in year 10 whose dad was Pakistani and the guy who lived in the room below me at school was black.
I am also disabled and am angry at the fact that disabled people, as a minority, were not singled out in your post. THEY ARE ENTITLED TO BE.
I TAKE OFFENCE
just take people as you find them and stop messing about.
and I'm still utterly clueless as to what you're trying to say.
"Alchohlic" thread. does not make any sense either. so weird.
a multifaith union of humourless cunts.
"my name's david worthington and i like sparking arguments on Drownedinsoud.com"
"Hello kitten, you'll never know
What it's like to be me when i'm curled at your feet
I thought you were perfect, but that racist joke just made it all bittersweet"
this South African guy a few weeks back. I won't repeat some of the things he said. He was actually really sweet to me, but nah his ugly racist head emerged a little too much for my liking.
it would be great if we had children they'd be pure white. With your blonde hair and blue eyes and mine, we'd make a perfect baby. That kind of scared me too. Thoughts of not only wanting the 'perfect white child' but even talks of a fucking child.
really hot girls...
to turn her
Or be racist but not do anything about it?
find some actual material, you gutless nobcakes.
my brother and i used to do that in yahoo chat rooms when the internet was less 'established' as well.
was a very entertaining read :)
My stepdad is Geordie and most often drunk.
Ken is Punjabi but with the Geordie accent that comes from living in England for 30 years, and most often drunk.
Dad: Noo then yoo black bastid, hoostha deein?
Ken (looking at dad's tan and pointing at his own arms): Yoors washes off, y'old git, this stuff here's real like.
Dad: Oooh shit! Give yer bloody head a shake man. I got sum whisky for yeh inside the hoose.
Ken: Oh right, now.
(15-minute conversation about whisky ensues).
So yeah, the beginning of this conversation is what most people would call RACIST with a capital R, A, C, I, S and T, but my dad and Ken are firm friends and would bollock anyone who said otherwise. Thoughts?
and then there's regionalism and ignorance.
Take him to a pub down South and he won't say anything for hours because he's terrified.
and if it is i dont see how anyone has been offended, or how anyone considers themselves to be superior based on their race, which is really what racism is isnt it?
But a lot of discourse around that issue tends to centre around how offended someone *might* be, which is useless, because what doesn't offend one person will desperately offend another.
if someone was present they could be offended perhaps, but its not necessarily racist in strict sense
I was with a few of my mates in Corbieres in Manchester a few months ago, and some lad brought his new bird along.
The friend I was sitting with has a big beard, and we always say he looks like a slav; its just his complexion. So anyway, this bird starts talking to us about where she's from. She says: "Its alright buts its full of snobby Jewish girls turning their noses up at me. Can't stand them."
After everyone reacted, I chipped in: "She won't much like your sister, then, will she Gary?". He cottonned on and was like "No... She won't.", looking infuriated.
The look on her face was priceless. She went pale and was like "You're Jewish? Oh God I'm so sorry. Haha I didn't mean anything by it. Oh God."
corbieres? I like the jukebox.
