Should I be going for Pentium over AMD?
any help appreciated
What are you planning to do with it? Laptops are by their nature not as powerful as a desktop but it should be powerful enough to do most things. I wouldn't worry too much about the processing power.
i want it to be able to store a lot of music - so i think 120gb min
multitasking is important
it doesn't have to be too light or portable if it comprimises other features
i want it to last
so an AMD processor should be fine? are they any less reliable?
'Multitasking' is available on all laptops.
Trying to simultaneously watch a movie, edit your own videos, listen to MP3s and post on a forum would require more eyes, ears, hands and brains than you have so genereally it's overrated.
It's not going to be a workhorse: you buy desktop for that.
Buy an external Hard Drive for music storage maybe?
and yeah, 120 would be alot, it might be worth investing in an external hard-drive? 160gig on a laptop is alot, but once you have everything installed and formatted it'd not going to leave you alot of space of other stuff. You might really not want an external drive 9fair enough) but you cn get alot of storage pretty cheap, maybe 400/500 gig for around £100?
