my 2 minute search thru wikipedia seems to suggest Johann beat Caxton by about 20 years. I dunno. Kudos to your historical knowledge for even thinking of Caxton, thommo!
always got taught that he was the most important figure in the English language just before Chaucer and Shakespeare. And maybe Pam Ayres. i'm guessing Johann wasn't English?
