don mckellar, the "director" in this short clip, god has he got a fab accent..but WHAT ACCENT IS IT???? (i have only heard one other person in all my life with it)
They have the same tone all the time. Its like this sort of bored, can't be arsed way of speaking, and from what I've heard, it seems to restrict them from actually being emotive, even to a tiny extent.
york actually, sort of. i want to quit school and move back. maybe. i was sad today when mail came to say that my boyfriend is allowed to stay in canada for another year, part of me wants him to be thrown out so that i'll have to go back to the uk.
ask me again in that sexy irish accent and i might tell you

:'(
Yeah, pretty much. I thought I may as well kill two birds with one stone, and capitalise on this opportunity for a popular thread :P
Also, the Geordie accent FTW.
One day,
when I become a Conor Oberst-esque sensation, I might write a song about this :P
Hello
I've consumed so many Cornish pasties...
and liters of Cider that I have a ripe old Westcountry accent now.
Hi!
irish
so hott.
Scottish accent too.
Pretty much anyone from the North part of the UK, who isn't from Northern Ireland. Most of our accents are horrible.
Including mine.
:O
nah, you're good as long as you're not from Darree
I spent the first 10 years of my life
in Bangor. Lisburn since then. my accent is probably a horrible mixture of those areas. Argh.
hahaha awwwwwwwwww
as long as you don't sound like nadine -
haaaaaaaaaaaaiii maiii neeayme's nadeeeeene
or say 'cyar' for car :P
I hope to god I don't.
:(
you may have been saved in time.
my cousins grew up in derry, then in newry. they sound ok.... :)
Scottish is good
I'm a fan of Irish too. Anywhere that doesn't sound like the Essex town I grew up in, really.
French
also a sucker for a soft irish lilt.
So we're in agreement:
Irish pwn everyone. Sounds good to me! :P
WE WIN!
x
Uh huh
- I met a guy from Limerick - soft Irish accent, plays the guitar, sings, is also very tall *swoons*
Apart from
Essex or East London I don't really mind. I like French, Belgian or Luxembourgish if we are talking outside of the UK.
I wish...
all East London bands sounded like Crass.
mmm
a certain english accent is pretty yummy. and irish accents always seem really nice, not just saying that because you posted the thread deary ;)
If you really wanted to suck up,
you would've said Northern Irish, but I'd know you're lying, cus it's shoite.
well
I wouldn't actually know the difference between an Irish accent and a Northern Irish one, I suck :(
dylan moran Vs nadine coyle
I don't know who Nadine Coyle is
I suck again :(
:S
do you live in a hole?
ok.
errrrrrrrrrm
james nesbit Vs dylan moran
Alan
Green
no
actually I live under a rock. :(
but yes, I know James Nesbit.
I like both those accents :)
geordie
Irishwise, I'd pick the Cork accent....
it's all so singsongy and lyrical.
Canadian accents FTW with the exception of the Newfoundland accent which is a bastard hybrid of Irish and Bristolian.
French
*swoon*

erm
i think that's just a yank putting on an english accent. or a posh american one. or something.
no.
he's canadian and he's ALWAYS had that accent, in all his films and interviews.
maybe it's
"posh canadian" and he's the only one to ever have it!
Scottish accents are THE BEST.
Particularly Glaswegian.
Doesn't fall into the categories of snobby, whiney, fake or irrating that a lot of others do.
:)
French.
Everything they say is a poem of beauty and sweetness.
French
Hands down.
Not targeting you
or anything, threadman, but re: Northern Irish-
They have the same tone all the time. Its like this sort of bored, can't be arsed way of speaking, and from what I've heard, it seems to restrict them from actually being emotive, even to a tiny extent.
there are loads of different northern irish ones though
maybe not as obvious to the untrained ear. but... they are different.
just like southern irish ones.
i have to be lame

not in the city york, but just outside all the accents were all bubbly!
york accent is horrible
barnsley accent is sex

this is how all the men i worked with in york talked. it took me over a week to understand anything they said at all!
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4aT3FDrOJUs
the audio on that is shite
york residents take about half an hour to say each sentence.
i've had ex-girlfriends crying into my arms because they can't decipher my stepdad (he's from rural County Durham).
