ipod help

Jah_Pat [Edit] [Delete] 9 replies 23:21, 20 August '07

Bloody little thing...

Right, i USBed it into ma 'puter to have some fun but got a little distracted and for some reason updated both the itunes program and then the ipod itself. the itunes program update went ok, but after the ipod update finished it has asked me to connect it to straight power via the usb to standar plug adaptor to finished the updating process... but i've left the plug in Southampton (ruddy place)... it has a little shitty symbol to show this on the ipod screen and won't respond to me poking it. i feel naked.

SO! What do i do?

Weirdoes play mobile phone music on the bus in the mornings... I NEED THIS, DON'T YOU SEE?????

ta, innit.

      • You need to plug it into the mains

some iPod software updates require this,it won't work otherwise

        • I. . . .

. . . am on the 8th circle of Hell. Pope Nicholas III can't get his working either.

Thanks, i'll have to risk ear perforation on the buses for the time being......

    • No....

.... i'm a ethereal being who floats around Père Lachaise cemetery listening to REM and Stevie Wonder.

I can't afford the Eurostar over.

  • This might work.

But only if you've got a certain ipod model. I had it working with my mini, but not with a recent full-size one.

Plug the ipod-side of the USB lead into the ipod. Now look into the USB connector on the other end: see that there are four silver strips, two of them shorter than the other two? What you want to do is insert the USB plug into a USB socket about halfway, so that the long two connect but the short two don't (these are the power supply strips, while the shorter ones are for data transmission). Push it very slowly into the socket until the screen lights up; then stop and leave it to update.

If not, take it to a Dixons or currys and stick it in one of the docks they've got on display there.
