I watched it last night for the first time.
At first it seemed like a really good idea. Unfortunately, what spoiled it for me was the way it was, as per for Oriental films, massively weird.
I didn't want it to be Hollywood material or anything, so don't start reacting with that. But you want to be able to at least have a bit of empathy and involvement with the main character.
It warned at the start that it contained a scene where a man eats a live Octopus. I was put off by that. Its disgraceful. I didn't watch the scene, but the fact they did it is pretty barbaric.
When the story finally unravelled towards the end, I was almost laughing. The whole film is based around incest? It felt totally fucking pointless.
I've heard it spoken about as a 'revenge film'. But he doesn't get revenge on anyone. He pulls the bloke's teeth out, then makes friends with him. Then he confronts the main baddy, and makes friends with him.
It was ridiculous. Some slightly interesting visuals here and there, but ultimately wooden and silly. Couldn't take it seriously.
NB: How good was the sex scene? They sure know how to talk dirty to one another.
"Although you are inflicting pain, I am enduring you. This is causing pleasure."
All in all: 3/10
