do you want a work experience place in the music industry?
yo
i know i complain about my job a fair amount, so this may seem a bit rich but:
my company is looking for someone to do a one month work experience placement.
we're a house dj bookings agency, but we're trying to move into booking for indie acts, so we're looking for someone to basically make contact with, in a perfect world, every single indie/rock venue and promoter in the UK to establish a client database for booking out acts. our acts at the moment aren't very good (imho. sorta mor oasis stuff atm), and we'd also be taking advice on other acts to take on, which is a half decent opportunity.
preference will go to people that i actually know and can vouch for the characters of, but get in touch even if you don't.
essentially:
you give us your hard work (hard work as in consistent stuff, not really challenging stuff. it'll be quite repetitive, but not unpleasent) for a few weeks (its flexible) 9:30-6 monday to friday.
we give you:
something pretty good to put on your cv
a quite fun office environment - we banter.
your travel expenses paid if you live in london. not if you don't, sorry.
the opportunity to hang out with me(!!!!!!!)
a chance to build up some contacts in venues yourself (helpful if you have a band yourself)
if youre really good, there could potentially be a job in it for you. it will be terribly paid, as i guess you'll be working on a low rate with commission on top, and commission will be very very small as youre dealing with tiny indie bands, but you would be an actual booking agent, unlike me being a PA. if being a booking agent (essentially a sales job within the music industry) is something that you're interested in, this is a very good opportunity to "get your foot in the door". if youre not, its just a quite pleasent work experience thing to put on your cv.
im not trying to dress it up as something its not cos that'd make me feel guilty, but if anyone is interested, reply here, send me a pm or whatever.
