Owen commits himself to Newcastle:
although apparently we're very likely to lose Martins :(
Quotes from him:
"Right now all I know is what I read in the papers. I have a meeting with the manager when I get back to training. We will see what happens then."
I have a massive smile on my face. Well done Michael for coming out and saying exactly what is needed.
for Michael Chopra?
Now I know the football world REALLY has gone mental.
does like his shite strikers....
along with Muntari and Benjani, this might be the most ineffective forward line evr...
fancy bringing some of the lads down my way for the Carshalton away game. I live about 10 minutes away from the ground, and seeing as Sutton isn't a prospect, I'll support Hendon if it means they'll beat the Robins!
a fine idea James, it's one of the easier games to get to on Thameslink as well. Definitely up for that. Don't worry, the Dons will shit on the Bobbins. Although last time I went to Colston Avenue I spent the whole of the 2nd half stood at the door of the bar drinking and was very very very sick at Clapham Junction on the way home.
for that again!
I went to a 21st birthday party there a few years ago at the clubhouse. After about 3 hours, we snuck onto the pitch and had an drunken penalty shoot out in the near dark. Although, as we had no football, we just used our empty pint glasses.....
An old man came out and yelled at us and we had to duck and weave through the seats to get back in.
"I tried to kick up as much of a fuss as possible because all I wanted to do was come here - but it wasn't to be.
"But that's all in the past now because the most important thing is that I have signed here now."
Sounds like Lee McCulloch's heart was in Wigan's relegation battle. Another stupid transfer of £2.25m.
and more the fact that so many clubs have wealthy financial backers prepared to flash the wonga. Clubs have inflated their asking prices knowing that the bidding club has money behind them.
I think the saturation began last season. Some Premiership clubs have been forced to at the very least freeze prices for this season - even then they're not going to be guaranteed sell outs.
And with the number of foreign investors putting in huge amounts of money into the majority of clubs at the moment, there's going to be a number of people who don't get much of a return on the money they pump in. So how long before they end up pulling out and leaving these clubs up shit alley?
has definitely been because 'small clubs' like West Ham, Portsmouth, Aston Villa and Sunderland have suddenly acquired wealth, hence inflating prices.
Clubs like that should know their limits. Won't work though, can guarantee all four clubs will finish in the bottom half of the Premier League.
all of which are being talked about in inflated terms (appearance/hoonours add-ons etc...). It's mainly Chelsea althugh also other bankrolled clubs to a lesser extent who're responsible for this - I think other folk have covered this up there^ so i'll not repeat.
I'll bet you that West Ham won't finish in the top half of the Premier League (ie. they won't finish 10th or above). I actually reckon Sunderland have got a good chance of being the surprise team.
fantastic opportunities surely abound.
west ham and fantastic oppertunities- not compatible.
When he signed for Liverpool Rafa said he had to make him look at the contract before he signed it. However Liverpool the famous club he loves and is a hero at > Port Vale.
