i really can't imagine getting married. ever. why do we need to get married?
My dad got married (again) in Italy last week, despite being "anti marriage" in a "I dont think its neccessary and people just do it because its traditional" way. He didn't tell me until wednesday. What a cunt.
Yeah you might not have wanted to go, but that's not really the point.
is even harsher!
they went out to italy 2 weeks ago today and I joined them a week ago yesterday. To be fair, there were only 2 other people there, so its not like I was being specifically not told...
Still, a bit gay.
but cohabitation for a long time is sometime I definitely want to do.
divorce laws are outdated enough to put hefty slices of suspicion into even the stablest of relationships
i couldn't cope with having to watch someone's life collapse around them. i'd want to run away. at least i couldn't make that sort of commitment to somebody until i was a lot older. several of my friends parents' got married when they were in their late teens. weird.
i don't think i'll ever get married but I'd quite like the big party aspect of it, and there are a few sets of circumstances where I would consider getting married, but i'm not gonna go looking for marriage.
i bet honeymoon sex is the best thing ever though...
"darling, cohabitation for a long time has been definitly something i wanted to do for as long as I can remember. Will you marry me?"
to make it last !
but in the 21st century, more and more people will be being monogamous for like 60+ years, which is kind of weird, when you think that when the institution of marriage was established, the duration of the relationship was likely to be only half of that.
she falls in love with people (pl.) one week at a time.
and put her career first.
Her wedding day is in 4 weeks :D
So I don't think you can ever say "never". My grandad was married to my grandmother for 50 years when she died 5 years ago. He's getting remarried next weekend.
I was engaged for 2 years and was convinced it was what I wanted for quite a long time until I realised I was being utterly ridiculous. It's still something that I kind of want to happen, at some point, but I don't feel like "OMG I MUST get married before I'm 30 or I'll die a lonely old maid!". One day, hopefully.
one of the guys from the interview in the magazine was saying the reason he got married was from peer pressure, as everyone around him was getting married. but i hope i won't be like that.
i guess i'm just a bit cynical about it all, and at my age i don't really have any experience. i don't want to be a lonely old woman and i wish that staying with the same person all your life could be as easy as it seems on films, but nothing ever is.
i hope you enjoy your friends wedding!
but if you boil don your life to waht you need to do... you'll do very little.
Get up, wash 2 times a year, work 4 hours a week, eat meagre meals, sleep.
Getting married is a good idea if you are in lovee with someone and want to celebrate that openly. Otherwise, fine, don;t get married, I don't give a fuck if you get married or not.
I'll probably get married one day, I think it'll be nice.
lyle is right about having to work at it, but there are definitely rewards to a stable lifelong pertnership.
*dude drives one in the lake*
other guy says to him, "Golf balls are like wives, they come and go."
The best part was he drove his 2nd ball into the lake, too. :)
for those who think it changes anything.
The commitment is the 'icing on the cake' of a great relationship' but will never improve one thats problematic.
It should simply be a commitment to endeavour to maintain a loving relationship. This mainly means a wish to reconcile inevitable future differences.
and go shopping and stuff. but i dont think i would like to commit too young, although i guess being 18 ive got a lot to experience first.
It's often more about having someone whom you seemingly take little notice of except for the huge chasm that exists when they are not there.
and stuff like that.
is what i say.
