I have no specific brief for subject matter or length.
what should I write about?
how much you love the power up band
end of thread
the one thing I don't want to do is just write about lots of bands cos no fucker'll read it or listen to it. it'll just blend into the rest of the magazine which will, presumably, be about lots of bands.
i need a CONCEPT.
that are everywhere.
i going to have to write your column for you again dan. cos last time you went a bit :'( "
Reasons for the existance of Jethro Tull (if any)
A Freudian analysis on the music of Neil Finn
(and more seriously): This whole DIY music thing as you're involved with it
I've just totally got a good idea.
but it basically would make good use of my ability to moan about things.
i don't like my idea any more.
that bridge that goes all around the world and defys gravity
I can combine these two suggestions by making a column about my insider knowledge of Dr Who/Torchwood.
it's new. don't know what it's called. Adam from Islands Lost At Sea is behind it.
if youre bored. There's no typos
write about genres of music that you - and the target audience - are totally ignorant of or have no interest in
ie - this week andy opens a critical ear to the music from starlight express / kuaiban artists / kiddypop
you could do it with references to bands and music that te target audience IS interested in - and this would be both interesting to research, could be quite funny, and you might actually get people listening to things outside of their comfort zone
actually a good idea. but I'm better at writing about how things are shit.
if i like something I'm practically incapable of expressing it.
with examples of songs - you critcally disect and analyse reoccuring cliches in music.
ie - people going "Woooh" in songs
it would be like, who is the best at going "Wooah", with examples from The Kaiser Chiefs, that song from the grease sountrack, Beyonce, Dandy Warhols (i'm sure there are lots more)
you could do this with lots of things, i think it would be important to choose songs from different genres.
you could have a lot of fun by chosing songs which have 'I Love You' as the main hook of the track (or something)- and you could just choose things you hate and slag them off lots and it would be quite interesting to see parellals of phrases/ instruments used across different genres and stuff
maybe I could do that one month. (if it's monthly that is....)
my current idea is to pick something (probably something fairly innocuous) and claim that it 'Is Killing Music' (which will be the name of the column).
so maybe one month i could make out that going 'woo!' is killing music?
HAIRCUTS KILLING MUSIC!!!!!!
