there's probably been a thread on this already. ho hum. exciting though!
One of the best series of games evarrrr.
But the guys accent sounds so fake!
as per, looks magical.
Storyline - not so good. Making the GTA characters so personal and relateable is a mistake in my eyes. Its a game you go on to be an unrealistic maniac going round, setting people on fire and driving whores into rivers.
In other news, I'm going old skool and buying GTA London 69 tomorrow. I love it. A newer version of it is what the world needs.
3rd best games series.
1. Metal Gear
Zelda - no. I was introduced to violence on games when I was young. I felt like I was going backwards when I played on Zelda. It has its place, but that place is in primary schools, and in the IT room at high schools. Its for children, sheltered teens, and 'nostalgic' nerd students.
Half-life, never played. I'll give it the time of day though, because my boyfriend says its fucking good, and, apart from liking all those horrible Nintendo children games, usually has good taste.
Most of the time.
Since I was tiny, violence has always hooked me on to games more than anything. I love Pro more than anything, but when its not sport, it should have a bit of violence.
Violence usually means tension and the fact the life of your character is at risk. I love the suspense, when you're worried shitless that someone's going to find and kill you. Unfortunately, losing all my points or something, doesn't have the same effect.
Gameplay comes first, then grip, then violence. Something like Manhunt, which I have no attraction of playing, obviously puts violence at the head of its aims. It'll be boring.
My best friend for years was obsessed with Nintendo, til I turned him to the Playstation. We used to argue for hours. He preferred games like TUROK, where you play as Tarzan swinging round the jungle, fighting dinosaurs holding machine guns. He preferred games where you were a pink blob, hopping around in a lovely field collecting stars. I preferred things like the old GTA, MGS, Resi (before it got silly) or Silent Hill.
Everyone should agree.
Squarey blood blobbing out of a triceratops that has a rocket launcher on its back isn't really violence.
Half-Life a go, good mixture of action and puzzle solving. You can get it as an anthology pack with Opposing Force and Blue Shift (add ons), which are both pretty good. Not sure how good your PC is, but I'm sure it will run ok. Superb online game as well.
