Wannabe by the Spice Girls the first time?
such as Noels House Party
this sounds like one of those stories you hear on Jo Whiley, of a couple using In The Morning by Razorlight as "their song".
on a school trip to Manchester science and industry museum.
in a barber's shop in Banbury
my mum came in and woke me up.
it was 7am or something.
that'll teach me
he had bought the single :D
hmv in the old arndale manchester!
in my front room.
is seeing them in TOTP when it reached number one. that used to be a major part of friday evening that did!
Don't Look Back in Anger, Paranoid Android, Dangerous (MJ), Around the World (Daft Punk), Muscle Museum, MUFC (Come on you reds)
no idea why.
where it gave Wannabe one star and basically said it was completely retarded. How wrong were they?
i'm sure it tarnished my first listening experience, so much so that i can't even remember it now [saaaaadface]
I was in a caravan in Dorset with my parents (17, yes) and Mark Radcliffe played it when he was sitting in for Chris Evans. I'd heard the name somehow but that was the first time I'd been able to connect it to this...this...thing (because that "really really want" business sounds very strange when you've heard nothing remotely like it in packaged pop before)
seeing it on Fully Booked. I didn't live here at the time, was here on holiday visiting family. That a talking puppet of a cow (called Daisy?) had introduced them was bizarre enough for me, but then I had Scary Spice all up in my televisual grill in her leopard print regalia. I had no idea what to think.
fact that i know this, but on livetv. dark days.
at the end of a late night entertainment show. can't remember what it was called but it was 'yoof' and 'trendy' and presented by Mark Le Marr or someone.
The spice girls stumbled on and performed it as the closing credits went up. I remember laughing and thinking how shit it was. The just looked like a bunch of drunk mum's out on a hen night.
I went to France on a school trip a couple of days later and when i came back later on in the summer they were the biggest band in England.
I WAS STUNNED!!!!
The Box or MTV.
This was obviously back in the day when MTV actually played music.
