I'm about 160 pages in - does it get any easier?
but persevere - it's one of my favourite books. It took me 8 years to eventually get through it.
I keep forgetting who all the different characters are.
It strikes me as the sort of book you need to read in big chunks, rather than the chapter an evening I'm doing at the moment
not a bad idea. I managed to read it in a week (finally) when I had an hour's commute each way to work last year.

I'd recommend carrying on.
It's the kind of book, as you rightly say, that is best devoured quickly.
