That is all.
But a very good signing!
he was one of the stars of my 5 in a row scudetto winning roma.
been better options in the other divisions of the English League?
to name but three.
Why oh why oh why do clubs with money to burn still buy second rate foreigners? It really is time the PFA stepped in.
the PFA have no jurisdiction (sp?) over English Football. They're only a body that represent the interests of the players so there's nothing really they could do.
the nearest thing to a trade union body governing professional footballers in England and Wales though, so surely they must be involved in any negotiations around contractual issues, changes to employment regulations, wages etc etc.
Robert Earnshaw was shit in the premier league.
Billy Sharp and Freddy Eastwood haven't played at the top level, they're more of a risk than a proven international goalscorer. Surely?
be paying him silly money in wages though, and I bet it's a fairly long term contract too.
plus probably a few others who've cost you silly money in the past.
EVERY transfer is a gamble, and this bloke, whoever he may be, hasn't even played in the English game full-stop!
Don't forget Maccaroni!
How many of these imports (obvious ones excepted) have improved either the quality of the English game or the standards of English players?
No wonder the national football team are such a mess...
How about Michael Ricketts or Malcolm Christie? Players who cost more money than Sanli Tuncay and who probably were on a decent wage - both did fuck all.
And waht about the foreigners who HAVE added something to the English game? There's plenty of them too...
had an amazing goalscoring record with us, until injury stopped his career.
Doriva was never on a good wage, Marinelli the same. Pogatetz will be on an OK wage but you speak of him like he's a shit player - have you watched our team this year?
Why should all teams go English, when there's decent players across the world?
and Mark Viduka.
the standards of the English game though have they?
And how many medals have they, or the clubs they were with at the time, won in this country?
Why look halfway across the world when there's so much untapped talent on your own doorstep?
improving the 'English game'. Emanuel Pogatetz was probably our best centre back last season and probably gained us a lot of points. That's all that matters.
middlesbrough done right here, the only half decent english striker who has any top flight experience who is available would be Darren Bent, and Charlton apparantly want EIGHTEEN MILLION POUNDS for him, at least this Tuncay guy is proven at international level, how many international goals has Darren Bent scored... none i think
you're talking about the club who season before last played a game with 15 Boro academy produced players in the squad.
Throughout the full season a lot of homegrown ENGLISH players made regular apperances - Downing, Morrison, Cattermole, Johnson for example.
