The new night at OBL
NO of course not.
a big bowl of crunchy FUCK-OFFS to Sara Payne, there.
This sounds like a twisted story to me; it's not about 'chemical castration,' rather than it is about using exisiting psychiatric medicine to treat these people. And hopefully give them a chance to train themselves out of whatever dodgy habits are bringing them into trouble with the law.
So either a pox upon the BBC for reporting it in this sub-tabloid way; or boo to whatever government official sold it this way.
Either way, can't wait to see the Have Your Say bit!
if i had a girldfriend who wanted a police check on me, she wouldn't be my girlfriend anymore.
i also disliked the way the beeb reported it on the radio this morning. i disagree with the plans and i disagree with the tone used to make it seems as though these were too watered down already.
she wouldn't be my girlfriend anymore. Because she'd have found out.
"Castrate 'em, but don't give them the option."
"Child sex offenders should be castrated full stop, and I'd take their hands off too."
Speak you're branes must be having a field day.
and... i really don't know how well it sits with me.
can you really rehabilitate a paedophile? is... paedophilia an orientation? is this akin to rehabilitating gay people?
It makes them less 'up for it' when the paedos come a-knockin'.
can you liken it to rehabilitating a gay person? all other moral things aside. i mean JUST in a sexuality sense.
I'd say paedophilia implies a definite level of predatoryness (sp?) and therefore suggests some degree of mentalness, whereas being gay is just being gay.
Gosh that was well argued. *abandons reply*
is spinning in his grave
they used to think homosexuality was a mental illness also. and tried to cure them.
They was wrong. And you're wading into murky waters here I'd say...
how do you deal with them? lock them up for ever? hang them?
in my eyes it seems like cutting the hands off a thief, as practised in some nations, or slicing the penis off high court judges (assuming they are found guilty this week).
i like to think we're better than all that.
because according to the times such were the nature of his underwear that its natural for him to use two hands in exposing himself when going to the toilet... which means he didnt do it.
surely as a high court judge he is well off enought to pay for a guy to pull down his underwear. we need to find that man and get him to court pronto!
apparently... so maybe he spent all his wages on underwear?
Why does this only apply to 'child sex offenders' and not just 'sex offenders?'
AND what's going on the picture in the BBC link? Has that young man recently been bummed into oblivion, and is now externalising his anguish by sitting on the stairs looking a bit glum?
Bores many children.
He's feeling neglected.
His brother's probably getting drilled by a tramp in the front room while their Dad watches. "What's wrong with me??"
He feels ugly.
