last night i had a semi heated argument with my brother AGAIN about 'the west' and 'the rest'.

basically the rest of my family, and my brothers girlfriend, said they were all happy that 'we' are so involved and 'in' with america, as it makes them feel safe. SAFE?

he also talked about how many people these 'muslim terrorists' have killed. i asked him to tell me how many. 'urm, like, i dunno, how many was it in 9/11'?
'yeah. about 2,000. if i'm to make a rough estimate, i'd say about 3/4,000 if even, people altogether round the world. how many innocent civilians have been killed in iraq? 60,000 (i think)'
'urm, yeah well'

and THIS. is coming from someone who just finished a degree in sociology and POLITICS :(

i, on the other hand, feel nearly the opposite.

i don't really know what to say, and can only argue and argue but it's like talking to some brick walls. argh....
