4-42 eh? eh? seems I was wrong! has the hairy one come full circle?
only actually goes with Yorkshire people and whippets?
I'm a Yorkshire fan
I love this man...
leggie, nice high action...
since his bushy-tailed but ultimately unconvincing debut.
don't actually know anything about cricket! :)
I've just found out that Pietersen's 226 is the highest score for England since Gooch's 333 at Lord's in 1990. That's 17 years...
Other doubles I can remember are Robert Key's 221 (against a similar Windies side), Trescothick's 219 and Nasser Hussain's 207 in the 1997 Ashes. Not very good at making individual MASSIVE scores, are we?
Graham Thorpe scored 200 against New Zealand in 2002. I think that was the fastest double ton in Test cricket...until Nathan Astle went mental the next day
Gooch also scored a double hundred sometime in the nineties. But, yeah, I take your point, big individual scores aren't exactly England batsmen's forte.
undoubtedly Sarwan's absence has helped but we've finally put a mediocre bowling attack to the sword, and followed it up by just putting the ball on the right spot ball after ball to let out of their depth batsmen get out.
barring rain, this should really should be over today.
Now that Pietersen seems to absorbed some humility, he's just phenomonal. The big shots are there, but he's not afraid to just block the ball back when that's the best option, something that was distinctly lacking. Get him in the nets with Flintoff to share that with Fred and we've got an amazing 4-8.
Wicket keeper wise, I'm over the moon. Years of watching Geraint Jokes flap around look to be finally over, as Prior has taken to test cricket really well. Obviously it'll be interesting to see how he performs against better attacks, or on the sub-continent, but he's performing with the bat, and is even better behind the stumps.
I be optimistic, yarrr.
He's steady and accurate. Headingley took the wickets yesterday, not Sidebottom.
Well done to him for coming in and not bowling 20 wides, Anderson style, but there are still plenty of better bowlers.
