i always go to alladins, but have decided its pretty average. any recommendations?
free poppadoms will always get my business. not sure about the best. aladin's isn't that bad though, there are worse.
there are a few here but I haven`t ventured into one yet.
I shall let you know what i think, when i get some.
it is still done by indian guys btw
I can't seem to consider anything apart from salf beef beigals when I'm within a 2.5 mile radius of Brick Lane
You wanna get up to the black country for a real curry. ;)
. i just went to 'maida' on bethnalgreen rd just round corner from brick lane.
best curry ive had in london.
about Tayyabs and Lahore.
Tayyabs is basically the most upsetting eating experience ever. Average to quite good food, horrible feeling of pressure to finish eating and leave as soon as possible.
Lahore just feels like being in a school canteen and the last time I ate there the food was pretty average. If I wanted 'that authentic home cooked flavour' I'd make it myself.
For truly great curry, you gotta go to West London, sadly... but I've forgotten the fucking name of the place... it's just near Gloucester Road.. Haven't been there for bloody years. It was, at the time, the best curry place in London. Grrr... wakey wakey brain of mine.
curry houses on Brick Lane are decent, but never been to one that's really good. Can get good value though.
Favourite Indian in London is the Kennington Tandoori. Quite pricey, but excellent food. Endorsed by Steve Lamacq, the Kaiser Chiefs and loads of politicians. The last time I was in there Keith from The Office and Kenneth Clarke (ex-Chancellor, Tory MP) were both in there. whammy.
I'm SO going there!
It's not super-incredible-amazing or anything, but is probably the best I've tried. Does quite a few authentic seeming bengali dishes.
You can tell it's good because there's no curry pimp outside in the street, but it's still usually full up
:D :D :D
Brick Lane suggests: offer me more than 2 free beers, you're the best curry house.
is pretty basic ie more cafe than restaurant. But it's good and cheap.
Tayyabs on nearby Fieldgate St is also good and has a nicer interior if you like that sort of thing.
