I watched it earlier and it was fucking hilarious.
but yes, very funny. what a tool.
but I just saw it.
What a tool indeed.
he rules. and that bloke that gets to sit in on the rest of the show - lucky git!
Pure comedic genius.
Poor guy, imagine having Bill Bailey thrust you into stardom like that, it would be so daunting.....just waiting for 3 professional comedians to tear you to pieces.
You could tell he could scarcely believe what was going on.
but not as good as the one before it, with donny and noel fielding.
Simon Amstell is great
I actually downloaded and saved that one. Just for Bill Bailey's bearly concealed contempt for everything that dude stood for.
Actually, most of the series was class.
was the best episode ever
yes, brilliant stuff. Amstell's pretty hilarious.
I mean what else could preston do......If he tried to defend his wife with wit he knew he would come of second best and that amstell would easily be able to trump any reply he would have...Preston left in quite a dignified reluctant fashion I thought.....his wife wasnt there, he would have not been good if he didnt stick up for her.....its not really fair to have a go at someones loved ones.....preston himself would have been fair game....preston and chantelle are by no means the ugly side of shallow celebrity culture....
I like noel fielding, I love bill bailey.
I think Donnie is just a chartoonish construct that needs deconstructing.
I think Preston is ....well nI dont really think much about him really hes just a person who somehow seems to have become a celertiy.....hes not particularly obnoxious not a lot more to say
would have been to have pitted Donnie scruffy rebel against nicely dressed neat Preston.....that would have been fairer and more interesting. Amstell looks better when his targets are bigger.
All he did was read extracts from her bio, which, quite frankly, didn't need to be written.
if she's going to put it out there despite being an absolute nobody, and also clearly she didn't write it herself, then she has to take whatever comments are made about it. Why should she only receive garlands for something which is basically the most pointless book in existence.
that occurs on the show then he's even dumber than I already thought. He's had about 10 years to find out.
P.S. Simon Amstell is fantastic
However both you and I and Amstell and others know that he was reading bits of extracts from her book in a way that might elicit laughing at her.....I know I did.
She put her book out there because she would have been advised that she should do that (by almost everyone that would be helping her to manage her new found fame, and who will be telling her she has 'limited shelf life, I dont think she did it through arrogance, i think she was doing it as advised to maximise her earning potential, whilst she is 'news' There are far worse examples of celebrity.....
arrogant as celebrities.....remember the task when they had to try to arrange themselves in fame order.....I dont think that they have particularly unrealistic views of themselves.
However Donnie does (unless hes cleverer than i think) he seems to honestly believe that he is rebellious and 'unconventional' I cant remember exactly what his quote was about the s** pistols, but it ammounted to them being nothing compared wiuth the towers of london.......donnie can make himself look stupid just as well as amstell or bill bailey
dennis pennis had the right sized targets.
and he attacked people who not only were unsuspecting, but in places where they couldn't defend themselves, like the premiere of their own movie or something. They can hardly start swearing back at him in that situation.
NMTB is a show that exists purely as a piss take of the pop industry, the guests know this, they get paid, and they have a chance to come back if they are witty enough. Preston is a dullard and couldn't handle it, so he walked.
possible taste and was absolutely necessary to the plot....would you ever consider keeping your clothes on in a film"
that made me explode with joy.
As did the offering of the hand to shake with Kevin Costner and when he was about to withdrawing it and waggling it on his nose at him.......i thought that was subtle cos of the hidden depths of its significance.
the number of which, that would fit into anyones boredom threshold.
house style though: subtle points, many words, boredom threshold testing. Give it a go - I'm an outed Kevin Costner fan so I'm interested.
it makes me feel 'self concious'.......Ok I will later when I have uninterupted time, Ill pm it just for you.
you mean it's going to be long, you mean LOOOONG. So posts like the monster one below are just flippant replies? Crickey.
Don't worry about it, I don't want to waste your time especially since it concerns Dennis Pennis, given that I detest him.
the most serious charge
(although I really like amstell and think hes funny and clever....i dont think preston is particularly funny or clever nor do i necessarily like him)
is that he had a go at someone who wasnt there......someone who is not particularly evil or bad...
If he had had a go at preston fair enough.......he didnt he had a go at someone else......i dont think that is fair.
If amstell had just had a go at dullard preston.....then preston might have just sat there grinning and bearing it whilst looking like a dullard in comparisson with amstell.
Preston should have expected that.
Perhaps Preston did not expect Amstell to have a go at someone who wasnt there...I didnt
can i view it in all its glory online cos i missed it
called YouTube that shows videos
but if he had made a comment about Chantelle with her not being there I'd agree with you - it's not good form.
But because it was from something which she herself had (allegedly) written and put out into the public arena, too bad. There isn't a single ounce of artistry or demand for it so it was purely written to generate cash - if people find it funny then that's life.
but you can find it if you look
yes purely to generate cash.....I guess Im trying to defend her/him cos i think there are worse examples of celebs who do pointless books, there are countless numbers of people cashing in.....Chantelle was a newcomer with limited potential, her agent rightly said to her 'get it whilst you can' (probably)
We all sell ourselves out for money a bit, i guess i dont think chantelle is a particularly bad example, just exceedingly lightweight.......but I will concede that by publishing he is in theory allowed to quote from it or make comment on it. I just like him more when he is disrespectful to madonna or whatever
