Ever done it?
And what's the worse you have ever seen?
Does this count?
I've drunk at lunchtime was 5 pints of Guinness on my last day at Barclays. The afternoon was a total write off. After 5 more pints after work I then had to get the train from Watford to Reading. I have no idea at all how I managed to get there.
we used to go out friday nights, but then i had work at 7am on saturdays. i was usually still drunk from the night before, then had to suffer the horrible sobering up at work stage.
I used to have to be in on Sundays at 8am. Getting to work still pissed was pretty frequent, but there was one particular morning where a lot of us on the department (Provisions, departmental fact fans) had been to the same party and got far, far too fucked
That morning at work was one of the funniest/most horrific few hours of my life
of when I had to work the day after my prom in a resturant. Several of us had gone and we were mere shadows of ourselves. I think I must have achieved about an hours sleep.
last Saturday I had about 5 glasses of wine during work and could be classed as 'tipsy'.
I regret every one of them, I just never call in sick unless I really am.
The worst was when I worked in a video store and both myself and the other guy on the shift were hammered. Apparantly customers complained that we were abusive and we got a stern talking to by the area manager a few days later. He couldn't prove we were drunk though
and it isn't uncommon, or even really frowned upon, to come back from lunch a bit pissed. We have about three bars right on our doorstep so I often go for lunch with a couple of staffers and end up consuming more than you aim to.
Even our boss does it maybe twice a month. Doesn't really seem to affect work too much as far as I can tell.
have 4 pints at lunchtime and spend the rest of the afternoon going for a piss or walking into desks!
young trainee astray?
it's the other way round. Some of the stuff she comes out with makes me feel like a young innocent. The youth of today.
For drinking gin on the premises, after turning up some 4 hours late, being completely rat-arsed.
Kudos, but still fired. And I took his job.
It's like you're dreaming of work, but you're not really there, you're in you own head, pissed.
I've been drunk at school years ago too. That's even more rock and roll. Yeah.
he realised he was going to be fired and thought he might as well just do it in style. On the other hand, if I thought I could get away with it I would totally have a G&T fridge under my desk.
He handed in his notice, due to run out (or whatever notices do) on the 28th. He's convinced that if he leaves he can't claim dole, but if he's sacked then he can. (?)
It doesn't sound like he has a firm grasp on employment law. Or reality, for that matter.
Couldn't agree more. But given that it was I would be taking his job, I didn't attempt to persuade him otherwise.
