Statistics and mintel type stuff
Hello,
There's lots of studenty types out there, I need some help please.
I'm doing a piece of work part of which needs to be evidence that the party market is growing or shrinking, what are the UK's demographics of kids, kids having parties, at home or out of home etc. Where are parents shopping for this stuff, at supermarkets, high streets on line etc.
What's the average basket spend, etc blah blah blah.
Does anyone have access to any interesting demographics / statistics I can use? At the very least population info..
Thank youuuuu!

what does this have to do with mints?
i can't help with your problem, but i was lured into this thread by the promise of mintel, whatever that is, and frankly I'm disappointed.
What's your favourite mint?
I like the chewy spearmint blue ones.
better?
thats my kind of thread!
i used to like those ones
i also like mint crunchies and after eights.
best cornetto is the mint one, same goes for vienetta.
I've got a funny story about mints/mince. anyone want to hear it?
oh
go on then..
right,
one time my friend was going to Asda, and my other friend said "Oh can you get me some mince?".
And you'll never guess what she came back from Asda with...a pack of MINTS!!!!!!!!!!! she'd only gone and thought that she said 'mints', when really she said 'mince'!!!! can you believe it! oh how we laughed!
I think the confusion arose because 'mince' sounds similar to 'mints' when spoken aloud...unbelievable stuff. those were crazy days.
Ha ha!
That's like the time I went to the supermarket and forgot to get something that I meant to get!
Brilliant stuff.
ooh I'd like to hear that story - sounds like a good'un
does anyone do their own work anymore?
I do.
Now tell me about the Guardian University league table please.
all i know its hertfordshire was 7th last
Considering its 85th this year
I think you might be thinking of another league table.
i meant 7th last!
we were 1st in the
"1st term drop out rate" tho!
Haha
I just need access to the data! I'm not gonna quiz thousands of mothers....
i will
are they fit?
so what is mintel if it's not something minty?
it's going to be a boring answer isn't it
Yes
they do studies of stuff, demographics and trends and things, students get free access to these reports and lift large portions of them for their own work.
I know
someone who works for Mintel
is there anything on..
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/populationestimates/svg_pyramid/default.htm
?
i can never be bothered working out what they publish. far too complicated for me most of the time.
That has a useful thing on it
I now know that 12.3% of the population are aged between 0-9.
Ideally I'd like to know what percentage of the population are aged between 3 and 7.
Has noone got a nice password for Minty-tel I can nick?
