Did anyone go see it today?
ps. I can't believe Spider Man went emo.
I'm that cool !
or was that just in France?
Well, what did you think?
Liked it. Great popcorn movie.
Parker possessed by the symbiote is so funny.
And the Sandman is just great !
I'm seeing it on Monday. Although I'm interested to see this new emo Spiderman.
I was walking up the road being ratehr loud about it so I may have spoiled it for everyone living between the cinema and my house...
A few cop-out moments, but great fun
you were talking about spiderman, right?
All the trailers for this looked ace but I just read the Empire review - 3 stars :s Still looking forward to seeing it though, whenever that may be.
Peter Parker is an emo.
the hair and eyeliner are proper amusing.
it's a bit long, and a bit samey, but entertaining none the less.
"emo hair flick"
never laughed so much in a darkened room until I saw that.
In darkened room stakes itll have to beat the time i <abandon post>
i knw it's part of the comic genre, so melodrama and cheese is 'part of the fun', but it went a little too far.
(especially the bit where Spiderman comes to save the day with the AMERICAN FLAG flying behind him. worst thing i've ever seen)
I'm betting it's ironic...
i actually can't express enough how awful it was.
AWFUL. The American flag moment was met to cries of, Oh come on! from all over the cinema. It was all totally ludicrous. Peter Parker looks just like Conor Oberst in it.
i went to see it today and it the end of the flim everyone started clapping
THAT'S SO TRUE!
*texts friend to let him know*
my criticisms were (SPOILAZ LOL):
- the flag scene, oh dear god, the flag scene.
- overstretching the "comedy", especially seeing as this one was sold as "the dark one". at points during the parker symbiote bits i felt like i was watching 'the mask' (bar sequence, disco dancing/suit sequence, etc.).
- not enough fighting with venom/that guy from 'that 70s show' playing venom pretty much as the guy from 'that 70s show'.
- the sandman pretty much failing at everything and being a massive pussy.
I was actually going to say I enjoyed it, but reading that... YEAH!
Actually, no, there were still some great bits - I did think that sequence where Parker is all emo-pimp was fairly hilarious, and ASH!
But yeah, Sandman was a complete pussy, and the way he exits - what the shit was that?
OK, it's far from perfect but it's a good fun popcorn movie.
I just hated the "..................I forgive you!"
*Sandman turns to pile of sand and floats away across new york*
It made sense actually...
saying the words "I forgive you" just made it sound so lame.
but he's actually forgiving himself...
why would he forgive himself so soon?
He had emo hair!
till SM 4 !
but, if in the fourth film, if he starts sporting skinny jeans and writing poetry then I'm holding you directly responsible!
The lizard will have anger management course and the Vulture will fight for the cause of disabled elderly.
It will be great.
And MJ will play in a remake of 'les parapluies de Cherbourg".
At least that was cheesy in a laughable way. This just made me cringe.
does this thread contain spoilers?
i haven't seen it yet but want to.
spidey is my favourite comic-book hero
unless you count buffy and angel too.
the worst thing i have watched this year..... n i watch Newcastle play reguly.
I've also just read that the studio have announced that we'll be seeing at least spiderman 4,5 & 6
pattern of goodness as The Evil Dead then?
the evil dead films get better from 1 to 3. Spiderman does the opposite, except that the second one is the best one...so that's not really the opposite but it's kinda the same n stuff innit.
have you SEEN evil dead three?
I love it!!!!!
in an ace kind of way...but still. REALLY SHIT.
& thought it was really cheesy and a bit too much 'america is freaking great as we have spiderman!'
Eh, I've come to the conclusion that I don't like superhero films much anymore.
And am not holding out much hope that it will be good.
In my opinion anyways. I just thought it was trashy american bollocks and some parts were just cringeworthy.
a superhero movie for ages dun care whateveryone says they are always sooo cheesey.... X-Men was alreet though
Although, the flag bit was really bad. And the amount of kids going "wow, cool, Spiderman!" = bad.
Also, I can't believe Peter kissed that blonde, knowing that MJ would be watching in the crowd. That's just unrealistic.
Apart from all that, good film.
and the emo-pimp scene was awesome.
it was alright, but i think i would have been more disappointed had i paid for it.
i found it quite annoying that there are so many characters that are barely in it, it's quite unsatisfying.
And as with the first 2 films, J. Jonah Jameson makes up for any faults. I love that character.
will be Peter Parkers college teacher guy with the one arm?
there will be the Vulture !
the studio have pretty said they'll do 4, 5 & 6.
But the word is that Raimi and Maguire aren't going to do any more spiderman films.
the first 3 films are all pretty similar, and it's begun to get boring. If they're going to make more films, they need to have something different
with everyone hating Spider Man.
JJ Jameson helping create the Scorpion and the Spiderslayer anyone ?
hasn't he been in all three films?
Maybe it's time Kingpin turned up?
wait, maybe it is three...is it three? I can't remember.
But yeah I think he turns into The Lizard, I'm not sure.
when he tries to regenerate his arm or something. He's been in at least 2, maybe all 3, I'm not sure either
where's your flatmate been for the last 4 years?!
on DVD not cut by adverts and tainted by childhood remembrances.
I'd always thought it was slow and rubbish but actually it's a really strong film, really well made and (in the main) the effects still hold up today.
I really hope this isn't totally rubbish. The first two were excellent.
and enjoy the show.
i saw it on saturday evening and it was quite possibly the most frustrating two and a half hours of my life.
i quite enjoyed the comedy bits, but i didn't care/like any of the characters, the storyline was messy (characters were introduced and then forgotten about for ages) and the editing in the action sequences was so fast that i gave up trying to figure out what was happening in the end.
they didn't even say what venom's name was! and they didn't explain anything about the symbiote or where it came from! in the cartoon series it showed it being transported back to earth on a space shuttle by accident.
meh. i could go on but i can't be arsed.
And you get the feeling that Sandman was just included because he's a cool special effect - he doesn't add anything to the story other than a couple of decent fight scenes.
apart from the fact that he killed Peter's uncle made him more receptive to the symbiote...
tag venom on the last 20 mins of the film. also the bit where he kisses that blonde chick is just ridiculous and not in keeping with the character. too many baddies does not a good film make.
I thought the first two were brilliant, and this one was only marginally worse.
The only criticism I could make is of minor CGI issues... but 90% of the time, it's still second to none.
I didn't think there was too much going on either, I thought that it was really paced, especially considering how many villains there were.
The whole New York feel was again really well done in this film; and that was part of the reason the first two were so special.
I thought the dialogue was actually pretty good, too. It kinda reminded me of A View From The Bridge or something.
You're all smelly.
I liked it !
But you're right, I'm smelly !
youre french. (paneuropeanracismcentric)
Worst film i've seen this year, so far.
too much romance nonsense and not enough good old-fashioned violence. I also think it should've been kept simpler, the fight scenes were a bit too high tech for my liking. Shame. The first two were pretty good.
Is a much more valid criticism towards two than three...
more cynical ;-)
i dont remember spiderman 2 having anything as bad as all the daft stuff that there was at the start of this one, like the theatre scene and such, maybe it did.
i enjoyed bits of spiderman 3, the stuff where he went all evil was quite funny in places.
genuinely one of the worst films i have ever seen at the cinema.
i've watched worse films on tv but to pay for that crap is an outrage.
highlight of the film? pretty much the whole audience laughing when Parker starts to cry when MJ dumps him on the brige in the park.
he is such a god awful actor. granted, he can do subtle, quite, broody emotions well, but when it ever comes to expressive, strong emotions he can't act.
after that film he shouldn't get work for a very long time!
during Spider Man TWO, where he tries to stop the train and has the 'hottest' look on his face?
It's a fine action film
everyone else seems to though...mostly.
I cnt quite work out why you all hated it.......its a big action movie that tries to be everything. It does this pretty much better than any other film. I saw it with my son, 9.
1) yes Peter Parker does blub badly like a kid.....yes he does unfeelingly and unsympathetically kiss the blonde in front of MJ and revels in his new found admiration and ignores her needs.....because he is flawed....he is crap.....he is a geek, he is easily flattered and turned as many would be.....he is not a superhero of emotions, he has to conquer fight those.....i dont read a spider having increased emotional maturity as on of their strengths.
2) Yes the flag .....It is SOoooooo abruptly showhorned in......like a blipvert except for a long noticable time, that i read it as sam raimi .....doing what he has to to make it a movie for everyone, but doing it so that people like me can see he doesnt necessarily believe it....(This is comic book for heavens sake)......also the spiderman is going to fight a supervillain that he helped create......his revenge and humiliation on the man that became venom was the reason for his 'venom'
his reason d'etre was merely to get PP or spiderman, he had no beef with the city or america just spiderman/pp......so the whole flag biusiness can be ignored or at least a hidden cipher that america only needs rescuing from problems it creates itself.......seriously think about this one and what you know of raimi.
3) The Jazz scene was laughable and was meant to be, to me it seems like a homage almost to 'the mask' ....the joke being that the only bit he wasnt wearing was 'the mask' .....he actually had the whole bodysuit on underneath.
4) the action was very fast....sometimes too fast, but he was crammjing a lot into it.....I loved the way that characters were introduced at the beginning and brought in later.
It was all about Peter Parker/spidermans problems.....not just about superhero fighting.
I loved the fact there was no real good or evil, surely this is far darker than spiderman.
Spider man is coming to realise that it is just an accident of circumstances that he is 'good'
Check out the poverty that the sandman comes from.
Only JJ is a kind of characature, and even then thats probably because newspaper magnates act like that anyway.
I thought it was fun and knowing and tried to be absolutely everything that a film could be.
Remember you are not necessarily always meant to like Peter Parker, he is flawed.
PP might have actually found his lab partner attractive......I mean she was well hott, just because hes a gentle geek why should he be of a %100 faithful disposition.....you guys are just presuming he should be.
