me: godfather trilogy.
loads, but this is the main one. three.
the matrix ones
the lord of the rings ones
Lord of the Rings
Blah blah blah. I don't know what else every one thinks is great. Chances are I haven't seen it though. I don't much care for film.
but I recently bought it as part of a 5 for £30 deal, so have it to watch now!
claims to have only seen 4 films in his life. They are:
The Nutty Professor
Die Hard With A Vengeance
I've seen a few more. But they were probably crap. I just find films a complete waste of two hours, and I get very bored and want to change the channel. Which can annoy certain people.
The last bit is just crap.
I hate you.
I can safely say I've been no more than 20 times.
Although, in all actuality, it's probably less than 20 times, yeah.
I don't really like cinemas.
too? That counts.
as its not a film.
And it SHOULD have been released in cinemas.
i hate films
what rubbish films have you seen?
they take up too much time.
I dont mind films that are mindless entertainment, but i really hate ones that try to make some kind of existential point. Or that people think do. I dont think film's a very good medium for that.
lets get drunk instead!
drinking > watching films
I agree entirely.
actually a good tribute band name
cunted off our minds and singing Go Team songs? Sounds like a winner to me.
count me in.
drinking with people where I'll never have to felt left out by not being able to talk about films. Or having any idea who any actors at all are :D
the stella is only £2 a pint!
learn about actors and things they're in, it can be handy for pub quizzes. It's just on plots that I become a little sticky...
Anyway. To drink! And talking about things that are actualyl interesting! And not quoting stuff!
is the one reason i am terrible at pub quizzes. also that i dont know about any sport apart from football.
£2 a pint? I'll drink to that!
for making an 'existential point'? are you saying any movie that tries to make the viewer think is pretentious guff? or, you dont like to think when you watch a movie?
I'm not sure I can be convinced this is great.
Gladiator, though again...
We shall dress as nuns and drink pink lemonade (they drink pink lemonade in the film) and watch it!
I haven't seen any of the Godfathers either. What a monkey!
but I think it being called a 'classic' puts me off because I reckon it probably wouldn't be!
in fact I think its pretty rubbish.
saving me a couple hours Rich.
3 hours of pish.
I heard there is a man wearing a wristwatch in one of the battle scenes - come on Gibson, sort it out!
The Third Man
American History X
Requiem for a Dream
so I'm unable to answer
bring it on: again
from the TV show...apparently.
i only like films that have spaceships in. or make me feel depressed for no reason i can comprehend. or films with jean-claude van damme in. or films with ninjas in made by godfrey ho.
actually, the last one alone means i like quite a lot of films.
I like it.
he used to buy up the rights to unfinished korean / hong kong / japanese movies and would complete them using a combination of re-editing, redubbing and cheapo extra footage, which was almost always of two white guys dressed as ninjas fighting.
he would also reuse footage from different movies. to this end, b-movie actor richard harrison was in 12 of his films, despite only signing on for one. it destroyed his 'career'.
they make no sense, are full of errors and are basically absolute bobbins, but they're also amazing.
the guy teaches a film course at a university in hong kong. i'd LOVE to be one of his students :(
Spaceships AND horribly depressing things.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
also....I haven't watched a single Star Wars movie.
all of those you've mentioned doubtful - now!
dammit. Yeah I'll get round to watching them at some point.....maybe...
I thought it was a film about eating wotsits and wanking!
cos 'orange' was the word you spelt wrong.
I've had a lot of coffee and I'm all happy.
I ran out of coffee though. :(
I'd say watch the original Trilogy first.
Ferris Bueller is a total classic!
Go to Blockbusters and indulge.
I think you should be punished.
I've never seen
the godfather trilogy,
the new king kong,
the new superman,
eternal sunshine of the blah blah
is toss and not great.
and you call yourself a man...
how do you know it's great?
films that people say are great:
Once Upon A Time In America
The Deer Hunter
2001 A Space Odyssey
Empire of the sun
house of flying daggers
The Big Lebowski
and more :( I need to watch more
just saw clerks and cuckoo's nest for the first time ever
On that list def see: Ed Wood, Big Lebowski, Fargo, Straw Dogs.
i can see all those
Yeah I loved clerks. I could identify with Dante and Randall especially when he says 'the thing i hate about the video store is the fucking customers' not to mention 'shit or...' it feels v v v low budget. It puzzles me as to why it's black and white, cheaper?
it was filmed for about £20,000 spread over about 6 credit cards/borrowing. It was Smith's first film ya see :)
I love that argument he has with the woman in the video shop ("I don't watch movies")
That film has a special place in my heart.
the scene where the woman wants to order a video for her kid is funny. Randall reeling off pornos :) I love Jay aswell.
"What do I like like, his fucking biographer?!"
"Where's all the Gatorade?"
"Exactly, they drank it all!"
Def see Mallrats next - critically panned to hell, but for us types another fine slab of slacker comedy. The gameshow finale is awesome.
weirdly i saw clerks back to front 2 then 1. I liked both but obv 1 is the best. I will check out mallrats too.
there is more Jay and Silent Bob hi-jinx in 'Rats too :D
or stick with the black and white theme and stick on Ed Wood - you won't be disappointed.
I mean it's in black and white for a start. Boooring
I always preferred Orson's other work such as Transformers the Movie.
Much MUCH better than the critics say
