is embaressingly bad. as is my spelling
I saw it the other night. I thought it was weirdly amazing. Not what I was expecting at all.
i watched the whole thing, amazingly
but paul whitehouse saves some of the sketches. but only just.
Parts of it are really awesome, mostly due to Paul Whitehouse and his amazing facial expressions
but truly shit.
nothing on it is worth saving. What makes it worse is that you know both of them can do better.
whitehouse obviously can, but enfield?
whats the ben elton/alexa cheung thing called, and is it on youtube yet?
its so badly scripted its untrue. It really does neither of them any favours.
"mr cholmondeley-warner" sketches? Id rate that as being pretty near 'doing better'. If he didnt then youre probably right.
Prior to 'Help', the last decent thing he'd done was The Fast Show...and pederast though he may be, Chris Langham never stopped being great so maybe it was his influence that made 'Help' so good.
As for Enfield, the character to which you refer wasn't THAT funny. If you watched his show now you'd see it was actually rubbish. In fact the same is probably true of much/all of the Fast Show.
then decided it was all shit
but watching back i find it funny
I like the american couple, and jose arraganto.
the American couple are good, thats about it.
I think it's 3 parts coal to 1 part gold. A lot of the sketches start on an idea which wasn't too funny, and drag it out for too long. (The Apple-man/Bill Gates sketch for example.)
but I have affection for them, and they are not that dire, they can do voices well.
They are of their time, time has moved on, but they shouldnt be hated.
Mr Cholmondely-warner and grayson sketches were fantastic.
My favourate was them 'explaining' all about 'beastliness'
and who can forget the arsenal (circa0 1920's team vs liverpool sketch.
Love them and venerate them, and humour them with tolerance in these, their 'fallow' years.
is one of the funniest sketches I have ever seen.
It was genius!
Youre bang on.
