"Can I get ..." Really gets my goat.
and I'm fairly sure no one would use the phrase were it not for the proliferation of American media foisted upon us. But it is inevitable that we do pick up on Americanisms, what with all the American films, tv programmes, music etc. that we watch/listen to.
Personally, I prefer to say "Can I have" or if I'm feeling polite "May I have".
Can I get is a good one.

I always say 'ass'. 'Arse' makes me think of my old P.E. teacher for some reason. Maybe coz he had a nice ass?
