im still in shock, hasn't given a reason as of yet
as England boss actually. I haven't seen Mike Bassett England Manager mind, so I don't know if that particular style actually works.
this is a dark day for BWFC man. I'm reckoning something big is waiting for him, in other words not city.
Weird day for football, furthered still by the fact that Baptista has just scored for Arsenal
1. Man City. This-soon-to-be new owner has waved a fortune at him.
2. He'll soon be arrested/at least banned by the FA over transfer shenanigans.
3. Randomn foreign job... with money being waved at him
4. FA are about to sack Mclaren. Which sadly doesn't seem likely. Not that I'm big sam's biggest fan, but anyone>mclaren.
it does not make sense.
otherwise - brilliant news. hopefully bolton will lose their remaining 2 games, not qualify for europe again, and stop playing such mind-numbingly shite football.
if you bothered watching us this season instead of digesting everything that you read in the papers you'd know we do not play mind-numbingly shite football.
unless the man city thing has seen him fall out with the board, which is not impossible. Or unless this ray ranson guy thinks that his bid will have more chance of succeeding if he has a manager lined up and ready to go. Which I admit seems far-fetched.
the top four seem pretty impregnable in terms of managers (unless Jose actually is going), and i doubt the FA are going to shove mclaren out. Maybe he just wants a breather? I really, really can't see him going to city.
really should be buying blackburn instead.
But nevertheless, is it that unlikely he'd go to City? They're not a great team at the moment, but if he's given money to play with they probably could be, good support, huge ground, and the suggestion that Allardyce might be motivated by personal gain isn't that unreasonable is it?
The only thing about it that doesn't make much sense is, as harru said, why now?
that he feels the time is right to let his successor get settled in.
But yeah like you guys say it doesnt fit. Were not hearing the full story about this.
on Bolton for relegation next season...
I think Coleman would be a bit silly to take it, if offered. Whoever takes that job is fucked, as Bolton are surely gonna slide back down into mid-table obscurity without Allardyce there
The timing and immediacy of it all suggests that there's been a big row, as I really can't see why he would quit with a couple of games left, whilst UEFA qualification still up in the air. Maybe he said he was looking to leave in the summer, and the chairman has asked him to fuck off now instead? Or maybe he's been speaking with Man City and there's been beef over that
As much as I hate 'Big Sam', it seems a little sad that he won't get the send off he deserves at the Reebok
this means Bolton will fuck up their last two games and not get a UEFA place, then end up in the conference within 10 years.
we did the double over you lot this year.
I wonder where he's heading. Must be a big blow for Bolton because he's done a fantastic job there. People complain about their style of football but really they're more entertaining than a lot of other clubs in the Premiership, and besides he's brought them unprecedented success.
I'd love to see him replace Roeder at Newcastle but can't see it happening. History tells us that Freddy Shepherd only sacks managers at the start of the season.
when he took us over we were looking over are shoulder to the bottom of division one (as it was then, and always will be), and ended up getting us to the playoffs that year. The one that follows him has some big shoes to fill.
Good luck sam, all the best.
there are people outside of Bolton who respec' Allardyce.
If Freddie has any wit about him, he'll be desperate to get Sam....
Roeder out! Allardyce in!
sam'd be rubbish for newcastle.
unrelatedly i watched the arsenal match with carlton palmer about a yard behind me.
he'd be the same as souness.
the one thing you need is some stability. let roeder build his team, let him have a season where they aren't all injured, then see.
newcastle have had their frontline out for nearly all season (owen, ameobi, any others). It will be interesting when they are fit again and the wingers can start hitting some crosses in or through balls.
and midfield, and i don't think roeder's had a chance to really get any defenders in.
when we beat them at st james, it was only dodgy defending that let us.
Bramble = poor poor poor.
bramble won't find a club in the summer.
i kind of rate roeder. i think he's the kind of steady manager newcastle need for a couple of seasons to stop the rot and make sure they don't go the way of leeds.
i thought that was obvious!
