Oldest copy of the NME that you have
Sadly I threw out all mine dating from 1990 to 1999 but 'mrs Prole', who I didn't know at the time kept hers somewhere at her parents - has anyone else done this or are we just singularly sad.
For the record I 'borrowed' an NME from the University of Liverpool's music archive as it was the cover from the week Ian Curtis died in 1980. Its now in a frame on my wall. They had 4 copies of that edition -they didn't need that many!
I don't read that filth
I read Popworld Pulp - 'the mag with a future'
^ give it time it'll be a grower
this is what the Jazz world said about Melody Maker in 1928 and look at it now!
Jazz World
fact fans will be interested to know, eventually morphed into the magazine we know today as Hustler
I threw mine away about four months ago
Suddenly it dawned on me that there was no point in keeping them. None whatsoever
Does anybody store their old copies of Heat magazine? Do they fuck
Those Pulps
might be collectors items in years to come. *rushes out to buy issue 1*
similarly
I threw mine all out a few years ago...the selects lasted another year until my Dad needed the room for his 'music'...
thye still had all the bits cut out to decorate my art folder/bedroom walls/lever arches..those were the days
I totally used to do this.
There wasn't an inch of my wall that wasn't covered with some sort of cutout from the NME. I bet kids don't do that these days, do they? I feel old.
^
The top of my room was covered in those information postcards that bands used to send out if you were on their mailing list. I kinda wish I still had them :(
there are
loads at my parent's place. from mid 1990's to whenever the strokes took over. i like looking back at them from time to time. but this is not very interesting i'm afraid
you look at a copy from about 1991 and they have about 6 pages of news
and tours and loads of obscuro bands, and brilliant piss taking pages. Sorry but far better than now.
bf
I've got the famous Nick Kent Syd Barrett article from '74
I threw all mine out
when my mother moved out of the 'family' home after Uni time. I think I kept a couple of random ones from when I first bought them, so it would be September 93, I think? Maybe?
And all this 'better now' nonsense. I think the cover stars of those two are U2 and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Same here,
I had to throw out a old 6 foot high stack of MMs NMEs and the odd Sounds
(circa 1990-1999ish). When my mother moved house about 5 years ago. Quite depressing if I remember correctly. But I did manage to same a box of Smash Hits, and Panini sticker albums that was in the loft, which I discovered again when packing to move to Paris last year
oldest copy I own
has Louise Wenner on the front.
Does it have
crumpled pages?
Emily Haines
sitting down, in a very short skirt. That's all I'm saying.
Yes, but we all know what you're implying
*nudge nudge*
Muff, right?
;)
my oldest copy had the fooking Inspirals on the fucking cover
yes know who i'm logged in as.
YOU get older and things change, you have to live with it but 'your era' - ie, when you were 15 is always 'the era' isn't it?
i don't have any
i think i've only ever bought it about six times anyway. recycled the ones i had, yep.
So it's probably loo paper now right?
[Insert predictable shit joke here]
[Inserts predictable shit joke]
Am I right comrades?
Hadn't heard that one before.
Good stuff.
I had one from 1994
that had an advert for "The Coldplay" playing at the bull and gate, and another ad for Jeff Buckley's UK tour. I wept at the fact that I ignored him at the time.
