and BBC article:
bearing in mind it's in Medway I'm intrigued as to whether people will actually care enough to travel all the way here for Dickens World
I hate dickens. Overrated.
a store called The Old Curiosity Shoppe. Which sells novelty breasts. A sale of two titties.
(thanks The Two Ronnies)
as in 'Fagins Cafe' and...........other ones I can't remember.
Hopefully it will be like that South Park episode.
I like Chatham Dockyards. There are loads of tacky museums and a rubbish pub (is it a Wetherspoons?)
so I would have been unaware of any pubs there...I doubt it's a spoons though as there's only the one in Rochester that I know of.
would you still go seeing as adult entrance fee is £12 or something?
when do you want to go?
it's not open yet, they reckon end of May but that's already weeks past the original opening date. I predict a riot.
for not seeing Fungi!
you're very welcome!
you're not from Kent
unless you go to Ireland and pay your 12 euros to see that little lonely dolphin. the shame
19 euros for fish and chips compared to 24 to see a lame gay dolphin. Who was the winner here?
seriously, it's totally worth it. and if you don't see him, you even get your money back.
did you not hear the part about how I DON'T EVEN LIKE DOLPHINS yet I STILL love Fungi?!! how that didn't sell you on it I really don't know
it's too late now. I was looking at Dickens World as a compromise. I'll even buy you Dolphin & Chips on the way home
It will put our cities humble charles dickens birthplace to rest :(
everyone should come and have a DiS day out in Medway, and then all you closet Kent-ers can relive your youth or something.
I'm first 18 years of my life-authentic
The hinterland of Tunbridge Wells
I will now refer to you as 'posho' seeing as that is what you must be.
(not at all - we were from the pikey bit)
Pluckley > Tunbridge Wells
I can't stand the place I was born.
I was born in Edgeware.
if you like?
how to spell my place of birth.
she's willing to travel from the South West.
see what worries me as that people will have to get a bus to it from the station. which means they'll have to go through chatham town centre...oooh and the new controversial 'two way system' (it's hot news at the moment)
I just don't think they've planned it very well. it's not very accessible.
I thought Judge B would PIP me to the post
Havershambles of a thread
I just read the BBC article in full, and the Peter McDonald who's quoted in it was my lecturer at university. He's a dude.
I'll get my people to talk to your people RE. dates.
(and an attempt to clear the boards)
the main feature, the water ride, is actually 210m long and not 250 as I first reported and will take 15 minutes.
there is also a Scrooge ghost house. I may actually go to this when it opens now BUT
Adult tickets £12.50
This seems a bit steep to me.
how can a 210m long ride take 15 minutes?
think Professor Burps Bubble Works at Chessington.
I've seen pictures. I think it would be more fun drunk.
we could do the Rochester Mile beforehand and then turn up. this involves over 20 pubs along the Rochester to Chatham highstreet.
who else is joining us?
date please. I need to fit this into my summer of love
some weekend at some point in the summer....?!
That was just a random date. And it's probably not the weekend, but that's the day
I actually just looked in my diary.
it's a sunday.
I just made that up as well. Please tell me I'm right
