Bass Amp help....
Right, i'm shit with bass amps, so i'm wondering if anyone here could help me with a query.
My mate has just bought a new bass amp and cab. The head is a Hartke 350watt something or other, and the cab is a Hartke 4x10. Now on the back of the cab, it says 80watt - 300watt, which i'm assuming is the wattage that the cab is designed to take. I told my friend that using a 350watt head through a 300watt might cause his speakers to blow as the head will be too powerful.
He went back into the music shop he bought them from and queried this with the guy in there who said that the head and cab are compatible and should be fine together, but if he wants piece of mind he should buy another cab to use with the head.
So now he's has got a Hartke 1x15 cab too, which again, says 80watt - 300watt on the back. He's been told this should work perfectly now.
So... my queries.
Is there a problem with using a 350watt head with a 300 watt cab? What is likely to happen?
Does it make a difference if another 300watt cab is used in conjunction with the original 300watt cab? My friend believes that now he's got two 300watt cabs, he should be fine to use the 350watt head into both, as it will be going into 600watts worth of cab.
If it any of it sounds daft or stupid, forgive me, i'm a keyboard player and don't really know the ins and outs of how bass amps work.
Somebody, anybody?????...........
Thanks in advance.
