Question for those 'in the know'.
Will they release another iPod next year? I don't want an iPhone...
Get a real MP3. That works properly and isn't only massively popular because [insert celebrity here] has one.
It was David Cameron that swayed me.
What is a good MP3 player? I need to know before I foolishly purchase a bloody iPod just because it looks nice next to my laptop
on what your needs are. Don't discount the ipod though; it's got one of the best interfaces ever made, and if you already use itunes it's a shoe-in. You'll get more storage space per pound with other players, though..
I'm a technodimwit.
but the general concensus is that itunes = great, ipod = shit.
I have a Sony, which is great but software's hit and miss. Lots of people have irivers and creatives which seem to have a good rep.
But they're not white and cool.
and the post above; the best thing about the ipod is the touchwheel. It's magic. I've never seen any other MP3 player that I had to mess with less to navigate to a particular artist than an ipod.
They're good pieces of kit because they've stuck to refining the design. Other companies still seem to be all over the shop.
I can only compare that to the Sony, cos they're the only two I've had, but I find the Sony just as easy, if not easier, to use.
Instead of having to scroll through ALL the artists, you can just click left and right to go through the sections A-B, B-C, C-D etc., which is just as quick.
Although I agree that the wheel is a good idea, I'm not convinced it's any BETTER than the Sony design..
The iPod has that feature. It's triggered based on how fast you spin the wheel - which makes sense.
And it's massively popular because it has the best design and usability.
P.S. What celebrity is this?
I mean Dave Cameron
Dave "Web" Cameron?
Bah, I got my first iPod before he was even a twinkle in Norman Lamont's eye.
this year. It will more than likely be announced in July.
My 80Gb is full :(
how else will they scam at least £200 off you?
iPod menthol. which will be in the form of a strip which dissolves on your tongue, streaming the new U2 album directly into your bloodstream.
Sony NWA (not gangsta rap related) 3000... I've had this and an i-poo and the sony beats it on every aspect bar software, but I still use itunes with it anyway.
How do you use itunes with it?
let's just dunk him and see if he comes up for air.
That's the only scientifically proven way of detecting witches..
more than a duck?
You're asking for trouble by soliciting advice on DiS on which mp3 player to get. 78 replies and a heap of 'iPod is best', 'no, it isn't' arguments later, and you'll still be none the wiser.
Go to a decent shop and try the different makes and models out. It's personal taste.
I have an iPod. It's ok. It works well. But you may hate it.
is a good bit of advice.
I dunno. The thing with an ipod is that generally, most of the time, they work incredibly well out of the box and you'll never have to tinker with a setting or read a manual.
But when they do go wrong, they go very wrong. Other devices are usually more awkward, more work and look/feel a bit rubbish in comaprison; but they're cheaper and more versatile.
It's all very mac/PC innit.
than a duck, and I'm a pretty shit swimmer...I'll probably sink. So burn me.
Using itunes...burn stuff using it in mp3 form then simply transfer across to the sony software that is pants, and it seems to recognise all the track numbers, names etc.
I actually find SonicStage really, really good.
I tried with Connect for a while and it caused all kinds of problems, so the Sony people told me to download SonicStage instead. Now it's downloaded properly and all sorted, it's actually perfectly fine.
The only problem with using SonicStage is that because it's old you can't use some functions, like 'most played' and 'favourites'.
I never use them anyway, so it's all good for me.
is what I use but it's piggin' awful. I might give SonicStage a whirl.
It's just really, really simple. I much prefer it. Now it's all set up how I want it, it's just as good as itunes ever was for me, although to be honest, all I ever do is put CD's on there, listen to them occasionally on my computer and transfer them to my MP3. It's all pretty simple..
