sounds like its gonna be sehr sehr gut.
True Romance is the best film Tarantino has been involved with.
me gonna see grindhouse next week. should be a larf, which is all its intended to be. however it would be nice to see him a new film thats more about the content than the form (which will probably be his ww2 film Inglorious Bastards if he ever gets it started)
too slow and lacking his usual edge.
and they're all WRONG
it's boring. has a great song in it though, that's my favourite thing about it.
a test of your attention span?
if yours is short.
"tremendous" earlier, this would suggest youre the one in the wrong, no?
What is grindhouse? I just looked it up and saw eli roth named as a director, he's probably the worst person in film world so didnt really want to look at the page any more.
with the roth hate.
its a double feature exploitation thing, one film from tarantino, one film from rodriguez. zombies and sex and stuff, super cliched, pomo and homagey. will be fun.
natural born killers is the pinnacle of oliver stone's career
"natural born killers is the pinnacle of oliver stone's career"
this is possibly true, although i remember enjoying platoon a bit more. Oliver Stone is a rubbish director though.
occasionally superb, but often very average
i use pomo very ironically. which is almost pomo in itself. or is it popomo? which would make it mo.
I dont think implied irony really makes it any less unpleasant :( it makes me want to cry. The only people I ever hear saying that are english literature students though, which makes me suspicious.
Hmmm. I dont like Oliver Stone, his films are generally pretty tedious, although I'd have to watch natural born killers again (which I dont plan on doing) to think clearly about what was wrong with it. I'm quite convinced that I'm right though, which is what counts I think...
And probably some others I can't think of right now.
you can enjoy wall street even with sheen's 'who....am i?' scene on the balcony? masochist
on UK Gold, so I'd probably say that
True Romance altered and edited to the extent that Tarantino demanded to have his name taken off the credits? I like that film though.
There's something about all his films that I find really naff and self-indulgent, pulp fiction is my most overrated film
natural born killers that tarantino disowned and demanded his name be removed from the credits of. Not entirely surprising really...
but i think pulp fiction is a better film, i love nearly everything tarantino does and this one sounds amazing, cant wait to see it now
merely for the reason that it is so naff and self-indulgent
i'm REALLY looking forward to the new one, i thought Kill Bill was awesome
But they are all fun.
The super-cool exterior hides an amazing story.
Reservoir Dogs comes a close second, followed by Jackie Brown. Both Kill Bills trail a long way behind.
grindhouse looks a lot of fun, but then i already like some of the films that sort of thing is inspired by.
the grindhouse and sunshine trailers were the best things about going to see hills have eyes 2 the other day. the movie itself was so unremittingly terrible that i walked out. i couldn't handle anymore. i knew it would be shit, but i thought i'd be able to get a couple of laughs out of it as well - how wrong i was. it was pure undiluated cack.
And both of the Kill Bill volumes are the only Tarantino films i've managed to sit through. I get bored of his stuff oddly easily. Though I do want to see Grindhouse, especially after seeing the trailer at the cinema earlier this week.
