Did you know that in the first Olympic Games in Athens in 1896, they were short of people to take part in the Tennis competition. On hearing this drunk at dinner, the British Ambassador to Greece thought "what a bally shame" and demanded that he be allowed to take part.
After borrowing some plimsolls and kit he went on to win a gold medal, Britain's first ever.
