My vote goes to Brass Eye.
Don't even bother suggesting Nathan Barley...
my favourite is actually Brass Eye though.
was just trying to be a smartarse
Maybe I should watch it again.
the jam sketch with the guy repeatedly throwing himself off the first floor is pretty much my favourite sketch of all time. here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEacGiMO3K0 .i think prefer the day today, if only for the american news bits and partridge.
was the best thing he's done.
Often now when I watch news programmes I suddenly feel like I'm watching the Day Today and believe the content could easily be satire.
of The Day Today.
the Paedophile Brass Eye on Youtube for the first time, it's total genius. I'm going to have to watch them all now.
see: the hilarious interview with the guy from babylon zoo :D
you write the lyrics, who writes the words?
chris morris is more disciplined, love them both, but te day today is taut, more efficient and the best parody I have ever seen...even the music review stuff is fantastic....'fur q' and its got early alan partridge 'eat that' 'shit' etc......it still doesnt look dated (although obviously not so genius prophetic now)
beandrd manning-talking about cake a classic
in what I think was a reputable source, that Morris is making a NEW Brass Eye about suicide bombers?!
Richtig oder falsch?
it's a whole new one-off.
I spend far too long on Morris discussion groups.
The castings are taking place next week, but from what he revealed and what else has been gleaned, it's going to be an hour long docu-style.
Of course, that could change at any point. Nathan Barley was recorded under the name 'Box of Slice'.
broke new ground in so many ways. From its writing to the exectution, it is near perfect.
I'm often quite shocked that people put the paedophile episode in the same league as the day today. Even Chris admits it wasn't his finest hour and it was made for the shock more than anything. I'm honestly not dismissing it, I still think it shits on nearly every other comedy ever, but it's just too overtly 'in-your-face' to work.
I fear that Chris will never truly produce genius again. When you listen to the On The Hour and GLC radio shows, as well as the show he used to present on Radio 1, you realise how his modern work pales in comparison.
So, to answer your original question, The Day Today. And it's still relevant today.
Any programme that uses the headline 'exploded cardinal preaches sermon from fishtank' gets my vote.
Just far more insidious. I genuinely think Jam/Blue Jam is his finest hour, its far more subtle but no less biting then the Day today or Brasseye. If only he was still capable of stuff like that.
Whilst it's impossible to deny the greatness of The Day Today, I always felt that Brass Eye was just that bit closer to the bone. Too bad he's crap now.
can't choose between the two. I love them both like insolent, rude children.
