gelatine

smezzer [Edit] [Delete] 27 replies 16:45, 22 March '07

does anybody else feel weird when you eat something containing this? i've pretty much stopped consuming any such product, so stay away from most sweets.

the thing is, i'm happy as a general meateater, and never feel strange when tucking into a slab of cow. its just the thought of hooves having gone into my milkshake or haribo or whatever. it seems like animal parts should be removed from such innocuous items.

is it just me? and do all you vegetarians stay away from marrow related foodstuffs?

  • I don't eat any gelatine or the like

And try to stay away from things that have animal products used in their production.

    It's difficult with beer.

        • If you're a proper veggie

          you can't drink Guinness apparently.

Something to do with fish, ask my brother.

          • Fish from Marillion?

Is he behind some sort of Guinness boycott?

            bamos @monpot | 22 Mar '07, 16:51 | X
          • Yep

            it's filtered through fish guts.

I don't drink Guinness these days because of it.

              • What?

Does it actually make a difference to your life that I don't drink Guinness.

It's just a believe. Deal with it.

  • Did you know trebors strongmints contains marrow?

    Odd, innit.

Yeah i dont eat it if im aware its in a product, but for some reason if i do eat it then realise afterwards, its more of a "meh" reaction. Its not like my vegetarianism is a sacred thing

  • fried baby might taste really nice

but surely where something comes from has some psychological effect on how much you enjoy it or want to eat it

    smezzer @wishpig | 22 Mar '07, 17:05 | X
    • That's a reasonable way of choosing which food to eat

After all we (thankfully) live in a land where you're free to choose stuff like your diet without fear or reproach.

      :)
