i haven't had a television for very nearly 6 months.
i like it and don't miss it at all
although we sometimes do.
sometimes. I spelt it correctly, didn't I?
a sentence with a verb
that we can occasionally watch tv on.
that's cool, why can you only occasionally watch television?
and I'm not sure how to work it when the bulb does work.
with a teletubby.
they won't let me watch naughty stuff.
as, tv is amazing.
he's just saying that he doesn't miss it.
although most TV is shit.
of stuff on TV is shit
98% of most things are shit.
i assume there's the occasional decent film on.
soup100 will be disapointed that my claim isn't as statistically rigorous as it first appeared....
i only use it to watch specific things these days, though.
but i do have one
bathing in the family slurry.
i don't have a licence of anything
my girlfriend doesn't have a tv
my bandmate doesn't have a tv
i sometimes feel like i live in a weird parallel universe
At that point, I could've easily given it up. That was a few months ago.
Now... no way in hell
Back home we don't even get channel 5. Though i don't know if that's a bad thing.
The only thing i watch on tele in footie. The rest is pish.
soon realised that I have nothing better to do
But all I ever watch is sport and Sky Sports News, really. I very rarely sit in front of it any 'veg out' anymore, even though my flatmate has just got a massive screen and some sort of freeview.
Nor do I miss it.
I'm getting excited about 10.30pm already
but I can live without it.
when i was at uni - myself and bobbygrindrod's tv wouldn't pick up any reception, so a friend of ours videotaped about four hours of daytime tv so we had something to watch. i must have watched that neighbours episode a hundred times
what with alluc.org and youtube.
TV when there's radio 4?
I watch a lot of shit, but there's also quality things on I'd be very sad to miss. I was always irritated by families at school who didn't have a TV because 'it's all rubbish'. There are occasionally fantastic things on TV, just as good quality as films, like the Longford/Myra Hindley drama.
would probably be a better place without television but i would never write off it's entire output.
in day to day life, i encounter more inverse smugness about having a TV.
I hate this argument about TV watching being passive, blah blah Adorno.
But expect it to be one line long and end in three dots...
i've not even noticed that i do this.
wouldn't stay in quite as much ...
but what's better about that? Exercise, I suppose. But I watched tons of TV as a kid, and never got fat, and it's better than hanging around in the street and vandalism and stuff.
our English teacher at school was like that, then she got one and watched Newsnight and ER and realised she was being silly.
they also tend to be the same people who are very smug because they read a lot of books, in my experience.
then i would happily welcome it back into my life, but, i have very little self control over my viewing habits and would end up watching dross like deal or no deal for hours on end.
and not getting anything done ever
thankfully i'm pretty good at controlling myself.
are deprived, so many shared understandings would make no sense to them.
That would have been horrible.
that's so true.
that most of what i watch is stuff my mother videos for me off sky.
i want to get rid of my TV and convert my PC into an allround multimedia SYSTEM at some point this year. less = more, innit.
when I realised I was in a geniune dilema as to whether to watch the next episode of holyoaks on e4 or to save it for the next day only to decide to watch it both times. This happens everyday.
it's tupid. we plan our lives around the tv and only go out when there is no other possible alternative.
like saturday coming, a mate's mate's meeting mates in leeds and his mate (my mate) wants to meat them and then come home at about 8, just as they start to get pissed.
does the capital + no tv = a better life?
in one week's time. Other than the soaps, I download stuff, so I don't think I'll miss it too much
i just use YouTube, screenwipe style
but there is something wrong with people who hate TV. they are dead inside.
i mean neighbours, Ross Kemp on Gangs, Sopranos, Alan Partridge, Going for Gold
