...was great. I really enjoyed Extradition Order and I met Grockle and Joey Mahone.
Massively hungover today though.
I wasn't massively keen on the first act and the second act had moments but just when you were getting a feel for a lot of the tracks they stopped suddenly. Probably he played just too long: having short songs doesn't mean you should play lots more in the same length of time another band might only play 6 songs.
I was too tired to stay for more than three songs by Extradition Order. This was a shame because I was hoping the drummer would suddenly break out and play like a motherfucker...if he didn't then they really weren't my thing. I didn't get what he was doing.
That said, I had a nice relaxing night. It's always good to be in the Good Ship. And Grockle's a great bloke. I'm glad he didn't have to wear a mankini.
Oh man- it was lovely to meet you and Theo and Joey- thanks so much for coming down.
I got shamefully drunk, puked on my chicks bro's living room carpet (last time I put on a night I shat myself...I'm moving up in the world), and then the alarm went off at 4am, so I could go to Surrey to run around in a field all day
Might start planning another one...I was very impressed by the first act- Aster and Claude...gave them a gig because she is a friend of ours, and they turned out to be blinding, in a Vashti Bunyan/Nick Drake kinda way...
He did better than us! None of our allotted DiSers turned up!!
I was stuck at London Bridge...
I had to get cash of a friend who owed me LOTS as skint this month.
And then got stuck there and ... it's not helping is it?
What a grock'!
I pimped it a bit on here...it was a very sexy night.
I puked into a sock!
Actually, I think "into" a sock is incorrect. "Through" a sock is a more accurate description, and it turns out that a sock is a very effective chip filter. I know, I cleaned it up.
Thanks for coming DISers, I knew Grockle ranting on messageboards would do some good one day :)
Pleased to have briefly met you Molly.
This bit of your profile is priceless: "Sometimes, if a post from me looks particularly sweary, It's probably because Mr Grockle is signed in under my username. Just in case anyone sends me messages threatening a kicking."
well, I'm sure you can see that such a disclaimer is necessary. I have been surprised a few times at the vitriol "I" have posted :)
Lovely to meet you too!
I met Mr and Mrs Grockle, and theguywithnousername, who were all lovely.
Also Um was GREAT although Theo's right that the set was too long. I liked the Outdoor Types' sound, but they didn't really grab me. And Extradition Order were enjoyably ramshackle, and I listened to their CD when I got in and really liked it. I haven't listened to it sober yet, though. I will do tonight.
whoever said the Good Ship smells eggy was absolutely correct. It's very curious. Great venue though.
I really didn't notice that...wonder where it comes from?
Thanks for coming dude...a real please to meet you.
Looking forward to the next one already.
how much does the good ship cost to hire?
Or at least they're not charging me to put a night on there on Tuesday.
I am fucking THERE...like a horny bear, like swimwear - Going to see DCW tonight hopefully too.
Got The Grock's choons on my walkman and enjoyed mincing through N4 listening to the Dick Turpin song...it has the Twin Peaks guitar tone!
I'm really hoping it'll become a regular thing - I've got lots of ideas of who I want to put on and stuff (I really want to get us, Horsebox and Blah Blah Blah on the same bill for one thing!) so fingers crossed I'll have my own regular gig night!
no pounds. which makes it a very nice place to put something on!
so do the beer glasses!
Mmm, beer. Also, I had my first Hoegaarden of the year, and it was delicious. Like summer's here already.
That can often end up giving an eggy smell...Not that I remember noticing the smell, though.
