it's well not scary.
they're tiny and harmless
damn him. damn him to hell.
theyre just tiny, potentially poisonous creatures with fangs that can crawl into your mouth when you sleep and plant eggs in your eyesockets
thats a total lie. the telly told me so
they can go up your bumhole though
was about to start a "People who aren't scared of dying" thread
and it almost kinda rhymes.
no, not that weird i guess.
I'm scared of flying...but also enjoiy it at times.
I hate takeoff.
but not because I'm scared to, I've just never been in that situation. Strange.
when you do hear about a plane crash it's all over the news and its a really big deal and lots of people die at the same time.
of course if people thought about how many hundreds of thousands of flights take place every day compared to the nukber of crashes you hear about it should put things in perspective.
It's unnatural to be so far above the earth in a metal tube. Plus my dad had a DVT & I get the fear that I too will get one.
and that's because I do it so much these days (prob 25+ flights a year) and I reckon that sooner or later something bad is bound to happen.
accidentally calling the stewardess mammy?
in something heavier than a house. With nothing under you.
It scares the crap out of me.
was sick every time she flew in her entire life until she flew with me (literally not metaphorically), and she hasn't been sick since. however the cheesyness of this will probably make at least a few people vomit, so its a bit like ying and yang. (my dad says ying and yang).
Makes evolutionary sense to be scared of things that have obvious potential for death
It's never been the same for me since I saw the opening of Final Destination 1.
those credits really fucking got to me.
i mean, what the fuck is an executive producer anyway?
but with more responsibility
radio 1 was pushing me close to suicide today, with their "text us and tell us chris moyles is scared of flying" competition. Every 20 seconds.
Flying in a small plane is the best....
The waiting around at the Airport was the worst bit.
I could just picture all of the incoming planes landing as the wheels broke off or something.
Once I was on it and it was coasting down the runway, I was fine.
but part of that is because I still get butterflies if I havn't done it in a while.
It's a really unnatural thing - I think it makes sense that a lot of people don't like it.
and despite the fun bits of flying, it generally sux beinig in cattle class (have been up graded business once - Tokyo to London - that was ACE).
It's the unnatural sensation of flying - it is NOT natural and I get the fear every now and then of a cabin door bursting open.
I've watched too many films like AIRPORT 77 and so on, I think.
petrified of the thought of flying. Once I've been in the air 20 minutes I'm alright, and landing doesn't bother me at all, but the act of driving to the airport and then boarding a plane takes an awful lot of concentration and willpower for me.
I'm not going to read the whole thread because, well, why bother? But I hope that up there ^^ people are telling you that to tell someone not to be scared of flying is to tell everyone not to be scared of anything, from spiders to broad beans to parachuting without a parachute. If they haven't, I'll do it
a) its not natural
b) you are totally in the control of a persong who might 'flip out'
c) you are at the mercy of others who might decide your flight would make good headlines
d) you are totally at the mercy of mechanical failure/fatigue (although this is also true of trains, somehow it doesnt seem so critical.....with a plane once you're on youre on.......you cant pull the emergency cord if you see the wing falling to pieces
e) you are also at the mercy of the weather.....unlike a train or car, you cannot just stop or slow down.
f) basically all of your fate is totally out of your hands.....yes cars are more dangerous, but you could always drive slower or more safely, they become more dangerous when you are less affeared.
g) humans are not meant to fly.
they are normally accidents per kilometer.........NOT per journey........well I dont know about you but Ive never made a car journey over 1000km.
If you counted the number of fatalities per journey then the stats might look quite different.
Be scared, but be more afraid of the daemon Mammon
Cheap Flights= Dante's sixth circle of hell, on earth, in 100 years
the amazon a couple of years ago. my uncle was flying the plane and we were in the middle of the most ferocious storm i have ever seen. the plane was leaping all over the place and when we landed he started freaking out. turns out he thought we were going to die but didnt want to scare me.lol. i had a great time.
MUCH more rational than a fear of flying.
There's something about Airports, and stuff. I love it.
It's not the fear of crashing, just the feeling of being in the air... so unsettling.
