Anyone else excited about the Todd Haynes-does Dylan movie, I'm Not There?
Or is it just me?
where there's lots of people playing him including some women?
Cate Blanchett is the only woman playing him I think. Also: Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Richard Gere, Ben Whishaw and a couple of other I think.
I love Todd Haynes, so I'm pretty "psyched" about this one.
If so, yes.
It looks both crap and deeply offensive.
He gets an Oscar nomination and must be thinking "finally, they'll appreciate me as a credible actor!" and then a week later you get him all over TV dressed as a fat woman in a bikini
Jonathan Ross reviewed it the other night. Ouchsome
won the bloody Oscar if he hadn't made Norbit. I mean... if you were voting and you saw Norbit adverised you wouldn't want to give anything to that man except a kick in the face.
badly. But I trust Todd Haynes.
so I suppose I'll have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
anything else, I'm just glad it's not a standard, formulaic biopic. It can be a pretty boring genre that does a disservice to the person it's supposed to be about. I much prefer the approach which attempts to meditate on what a person means within their culture, rather than the Big Event A to Big Event B, etc. which these kind of movies usually opt for.
I think he's been done to death though. It will be interesting if they offer several different perspectives.
sometimes amazing, sometimes AWFUL (you know what i'm talking about). could be wonderful.
referring to 'Velvet Goldmine'? It's hugely flawed but I still find a lot to love amongst all the mess.
'Far from Heaven' and 'Safe' though... bliss.
does a couple of tunes on this.
