'Allo 'Allo

IndieAndy_Jones [Edit] [Delete] 41 replies 12:34, 9 March '07

is making a comeback. A one off special is being made. I've no idea why they feel the need to do this, but I used to love 'Allo 'Allo and i fear that it just won't be the same.

I mean it's been 15 years since it finished, and it should just be left alone. The new episode is bound to tarnish my happy memories of it.

    • Along with most of the cast I would have thought

      Dalkin @devonmalcolm | 9 Mar '07, 12:35 | X
    • is he?

well that's just another reason why they souldn't do it. He can't be the only dead one either.

      IndieAndy_Jones @devonmalcolm | 9 Mar '07, 12:36 | X
  • aren't they all dead?

    doubtful | 9 Mar '07, 12:35 | X
  • One of my friends

    yo_soy_welshmun | 9 Mar '07, 12:36 | X

  • I thought Gordon Kaye was dead?

If not he definitely had a car crash which made him a bit spazzy I think.

It is great although I think I only started understanding the subtleties about 2 years ago because I am thick.

    doctornovocalcords | 9 Mar '07, 12:36 | X
    • might be getting him mixed up with Leslie Crowther

      doctornovocalcords @doctornovocalcords | 9 Mar '07, 12:36 | X
    • nah he's alive and well

just before christmas he was starring in some show at the Mayflower theatre in southampton

      • rejoice

        doctornovocalcords @IndieAndy_Jones | 9 Mar '07, 12:39 | X
    • ARE there subtleties to it?

i thought it was all about the catchphrases and double entendres.

      IndieAndy_Jones @doctornovocalcords | 9 Mar '07, 12:37 | X
      • It isn't incredibly subtle I'll grant you

but I don't think as a child I even understood the fact that the accents represented them actually speaking in French or German or whatever hence them not necessarily being able to understand each other at times (even though they are all "speaking" English.
I also didn't really understand the historical/political elements.

        That policeman lol.

        doctornovocalcords @IndieAndy_Jones | 9 Mar '07, 12:42 | X
        • tis a shame that none of them seemed to get any work afterwards

apart from popping up at the front door on Noels House Party every now and then

          IndieAndy_Jones @doctornovocalcords | 9 Mar '07, 12:47 | X
          • What about

            Terry in Eastenders

            devonmalcolm @IndieAndy_Jones | 9 Mar '07, 12:49 | X
            • ah yes

i can't tell you the joy i experienced when i eventually realised who that was. Whata mistakea to makea!

  • I HATE it

Hate hate hate hate hate hate it.

It's rivalled possibly only by Keeping Up Appearances as the worst television programme ever made.

I'm so angry about this news I'm going to sick on my monitor.

    colonol_k | 9 Mar '07, 12:43 | X
    • Adrian LOL

      devonmalcolm @colonol_k | 9 Mar '07, 12:43 | X
    • you can't compare Allo Allo to Keeping Up Appearances!

Allo Allo is in a different class. All the characters are likeable in Allo Allo, whereas i cannae stand anyone in Keeping Up Appearances

      IndieAndy_Jones @colonol_k | 9 Mar '07, 12:44 | X
      • not even

        Emmett?

        devonmalcolm @IndieAndy_Jones | 9 Mar '07, 12:45 | X
        • not EVEN Emmet!

eurgh! i hate that programme as much as i hate any tv show.

          IndieAndy_Jones @devonmalcolm | 9 Mar '07, 12:46 | X
      • SICK

I tell you. I'm too furious to rationally debate this.

        colonol_k @IndieAndy_Jones | 9 Mar '07, 12:46 | X
    • give it a chance

I always thought this but it's actually pretty decent watching it now

far superior to the likes of keeping up appearances/last of the summer wine/oh dr beeching/chef/my hero etc.

      doctornovocalcords @colonol_k | 9 Mar '07, 12:46 | X
      • you forgot

Bonjour La Classe and Next of Kin

        devonmalcolm @doctornovocalcords | 9 Mar '07, 12:47 | X
        • and So Haunt Me

and Up the Elephant and round the castle

Thanks for reminding me of Bonjour la Classe

          uneven capitalisation here

          doctornovocalcords @devonmalcolm | 9 Mar '07, 14:48 | X
  • i still can't watch last of the summer wine

that's just as bad as keeping up appearances.

But Dad's Army is good. I used to hate it when i was a kid, but i've slowly come to realise it's really rather good.

this bit from the one were they capture a load of germans still makes me laugh:
    "what is your name?"
    "don't tell him, Pike!"

    IndieAndy_Jones @andyk79 | 9 Mar '07, 12:50 | X
    • well, those parts get referenced lots for a good reason

well, apart from the last of the summer wine one.

      • herr flick is alive

i know edith is gone and the old geezers, monsieur leclaire

i saw the stage show many years ago it was great, but it should be left alone

they should do one set in bagdad

        templar72 @andyk79 | 9 Mar '07, 14:14 | X
      • it's not always a bath

Ive also seen rocking horse, wardrobe and bikes without brakes

hilarious everytime even more so when they disturb the old man and his mistress, that destroys me

        doctornovocalcords @andyk79 | 9 Mar '07, 14:49 | X
        • I loved the way renee was the s** symbol

and despite his unpromising looks and personality just accepted it as part of what made his life difficult........I would love to have a fancy dress part or a themed weekend where everyone can rush around exchanging sausages and putting chese in our ears when keane comes on......Of course I would want to be the poloceman

          creakyknees | 9 Mar '07, 14:54 | X
