ban macdonalds to stop stupid proles* getting fat.
*no not that one.
and it was overheard by some press person.....he hardly bravely announced it to defend us all.
That doesn't reflect well on you...
anyway. i think they're about even, but charles is taken more seriously and uses his "fame" to influence people about things he should really keep quiet about.
done of any worth?
as far as I understand all she has done is be stupid and racist on television and print.
I respect Prince Charles infinitely more.
that he seems a fairly nice person.
but if he says something we want to react to, it's a bit pointless to ignore it on the basis that we shouldn't even have heard about it anyway.
we hear what he says because he is famous. This happens to all famous people, not just Royalty
has far more of a political agenda than most celebrities. and his opinions are seemingly taken far more seriously: which is both dangerous and damaging when he is badly informed and out of touch with reality.
what's the problem?
maccy ds is cheap and probably among the better meals many children actually get?
the fact that they are changing to encourage healthier eating (though obviously that's only to a degree)
and beyond that his views on architecture etc. have caused real damage and problems to a british industry precisely because he has no grasp at all of the reality of the situation.
it's naive to think that they'll do any more than the PR-estimated minimum.
being an entirely relative term.....
compared to just eating chocolate or crisps or sweets.
plenty of families around where i live where a mcdonalds is as substantial and balanced as their diet gets.
sad but true.
getting rid of it isn't key, educating people about why it's shit is.
hence charles is an idiot.
i like you. you're right.
i don't understand -
do you mean stop subsidising farmers? why does this make food cheaper? what is food security?
wouldn't this completely screw our farmers over though? As other countries aren't going to stop subsidies.
plus the subsidies mean that our farmers don't have to specialise as much as they might, or produce food of a certain quality, or whatever.
farming in this country is more or less dead, and just because it's part of our heritage doesn't mean it should be kept alive by throwing money at it.
i'm no fan of farmers (one of the bastards shot at me once), but this talk of wiping out an entire industry worries me. see: the miners.
but pretty much. see also: all the jobs lost from banning fox hunting
why should they have? plus - that's entirely different.
but similar in its 'can't make an omelette without breaking eggs' stance. there are people who had jobs based on hunting - stables, owners of hounds, farriers, gamekeepers etc. there is debate as to how many and whether they genuinely can't do something else.
and you can attack the concept of being famous if you want, but it's silly to disregard anything a famous person said just because in an ideal world, you'd never have heard about it.
especially as that's not what really what he said, it seems like he was just talking to a nutritionist about it's impact.
Prince Charles does some good organic work, Duchy Originals food is amazing. He should not bother with being royal, just give it up and be a farmer...
with mass-produced food with low-nutrional value are quite apparent, they're also CHEAP.
charles lives nowhere near planet earth in this regard.
he has to get all his saying of silly things (or any opinions!) over with before he becomes king. as monarchs aren't allowed to say silly things..
we would have president cameron. eurgh.
or Denmark- the most proportional country in the world apparently.
but i'm only in it for the guillotines....
only just balances out him abusing his position to spout propoganda for very damaging causes.
